Larry Akers Posted August 22 Posted August 22 This is my first post, so it is also a "test". There are two screws holding the old felt that the window will not roll down far enough to remove them. I think there must be a way and would appreciate any help, maybe along with pictures or diagram. Thank you for your time and trouble. Quote
Blackhawk Posted August 22 Posted August 22 The window bottom stops need to be moved down. You'll need to pull the door panel, and there are two 7/16" bolt heads on the inner door structure that you'll loosen. Make a mark where the tang sits so that you can put it back in the same position. https://www.hotrod.com/how-to/1970-chevy-basket-case-chevelle-part-4 5 Quote
Marks71 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Once the door panel has been removed there is a rubber bump stop that the window mechanism rests on when the glass is rolled down. You can remove the bracket or just lower it which will allow you to roll the window down a little more to clear those screws. Be careful not to roll it down too far because the bottom guide rollers could come out of the channel at the bottom and can be a hassle to get them back. 3 Quote
Rob Peters Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Welcome aboard the boards Larry and welcome as being one of our newest dues paying members of the club. Just a note, WE LOVE PICTIURES!!! I see you already have two answers to your question so there is no need for me to duplicate the two accurate responses you already have because they are both correct. You didn't say if you have electric windows and door locks or crank windows. If electric, as you know you will need to disconnect those plugs to get the door panel out of the way... easy-peasy. But if you have crank windows you will need to remove the window hand cranks and that can sometimes be a challenge if you have never done it. Many auto parts stores sell the clip remover to pop out the window crank holding clip. Usually, if I can't find my clip remover I take a piece of rag, thin enough to work in between the door panel/plastic protective guard and the window crank and long enough so I can grab both ends of the thin piece of rag and do a shoe-shine action with the rag ends. This should work the retaining clip out of the slot so the crank handle can be removed. It has always worked for me, just be careful the clip doesn't fly off in some ungodly direction so you can't find it. When you reinstall the crank handle just put the clip back on the crank, in its installed position and pop the crank back on the shaft and it will lock in right back into position. Don't forget the pictures!! rob 3 Quote
Larry Akers Posted August 25 Author Posted August 25 Thank you, guys, so much, all of you, especially Blackhawk. I knew it was something like that and the picture was so helpful. As soon as I can figure how I will add a picture of my car Sunburnt. The car was not a "barn find", rather it was in the field behind the barn. 3 Quote

See if that gets you to your pictures. 1 Quote
