klassic rob Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Afternoon Gents. Just and FYI from American Racing Headers if didnt know they do make a complete Exhaust system for A body cars to go along with the mMonte headers, 2.5 and 3" system from headers back even though the Monte Engines sits back 4" ,ARH said the system will work, can get all clamps , and hangers. do have the oval tips in 2.5", 3". pricey though. $2,324.53 1 Quote

70white402 Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I’ve got a Gardner 69 Chevelle chambered exhaust on my 70. Love it. Practically fell into place during install. I have factory manifolds, not headers. It would be pretty loud with headers and chambered. Quote
GRAY 70 Monte Carlo Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Doug’s ceramic coated headers and Pypes 3 inch x exhaust works great as well. Sounds good too Quote
Dtret Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I have Gardner on my 71 SS and sitting here waiting to go on my 70 SS. Expensive but fits like a glove ( not like OJ’s). 1 1 Quote
1Bad454 Posted August 27 Posted August 27 For a modified build ARH are a very good choice. You won't be disappointed.. 1 Quote
DragCat Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I went with ARH headers, very pleased. Yes they are pricey, but I don't think ive seen any other brands tuck up so nicely . I don't know of anyone with a Monte that went with the exhaust system so I'll just say this. The headers are spec'd for Monte's, the exhaust system is spec'd for A body cars. Just my .02 2 Quote
klassic rob Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 Exactly. What heard from Pypes ,American OPGI. Is the A body system should fit the Monte’s . There is a place in Charlotte pretty close to me that does custom . I want to go ARH HEADERS , but I also like the Gardner exhaust systems . From what I’ve looked up the Gardner only hooks up to stock manifolds didn’t see anything about system to headers. Quote
DragCat Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Wonder if the custom shop could get the Gardner to adapt to the ARH. Quote

I picked up a relatively new dual exhaust set up for a 70-72 chevelle off marketplace ( factory manifolds) and I bolted it right up to my 72 Custom 454. Not what that is supposed to have but it beat nothing. I’ll correct it on the restoration. 1 Quote
Blackhawk Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I'm more surprised that ARH has a different header for the big block Monte, but I guess they're taking advantage of the extra room at the back of the engine. I'm running headers and a Pypes crossmember back exhaust, both made for Chevelles. The engine is in the same place relative to everything but the front crossmember and suspension between the two cars. 1 Quote
