Larry Akers Posted Thursday at 01:29 PM Posted Thursday at 01:29 PM My 1970 Monte Carlo hood is damaged beyond being a repair candidate. Will a 1971 or 1972 hood fit with or without modification? Thanking you in advance for your time and trouble. Quote
Blackhawk Posted Thursday at 02:00 PM Posted Thursday at 02:00 PM The only difference will be the holes drilled for the hood spear. 3 Quote
willie Posted Thursday at 03:52 PM Posted Thursday at 03:52 PM Cody is right. The holes in the 70 are small, the holes in the 71-72 are bigger. The spear for the 70 doesn't cover the holes in the 71-72. I know there is also a difference in the 71-72 but maybe someone else can jump in as i don't remember1 3 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted Thursday at 03:55 PM Posted Thursday at 03:55 PM I have a 72 hood on my 71 but I don't have the hood spear on mine. 2 Quote
Scott S. Posted Thursday at 05:18 PM Posted Thursday at 05:18 PM I believe that there's a hole in the '71 for the "gunsight" spring that isn't in the '70. 2 Quote
Dtret Posted Thursday at 05:46 PM Posted Thursday at 05:46 PM All the information posted above is correct. The other difference Willie is referring to will not matter in this situation. The 72( later) have a crumple zone built in the frame of the hood. 4 Quote

I found a nice 72 hood, and since it is a restoration, the holes are a minor issue. 3 Quote
