I know the turn signal area was the trouble spot for them. You'll have to wait and see what you have to work with. Please take a bunch of pictures and post here for all to see.

Good luck with it.

I'm in San Diego and have a '72 smile Depending on distance from my house I wouldn't mind cruising up to them. What do I need to do?

Interested to see what a polished one will look on a 70. My OEM grill is In Really good Condition so the aftermarket grill would have to look really sweet!

Contact Charlie. Here's his email: billetart@yahoo.com

Tell him you are able to supply a 72 for a test fit.

Thanks Mark! Let us know how this transpires.

I had planned on getting one but Mark said he did not want to ship it to me and not have it fit and then pay shipping for it to be sent back. He also told me some sort of a custom turn signal behind the grill would have to be made or use a 70/71 bumper.

Or, you could put in headlights with built-in turn signals. I have these in my Monte:

Ok, I must be missing something here. I just received a reply from the Billet Art guy on Ebay and he said the 70/71 grille is still in prototype stages...looking for local cars to fit it to. He also said the price is $350 shipped, not $287 shipped like two of you guys got it for. How can it still be in prototype when two of you got them in 2010? Did I contact the wrong guy? I told him that I saw the product on here.

Problem solved....he emailed me back and said he made a mistake and quoted me for the 1972 grille which is still in development. He will honor the price of $287 shipped for the 1970-71 grille.

Hi guys, here's my $.02. I've been emailing Charlie and live about 200 miles North of him. We are planning to meet half way. He will bring the grille and I will bring the Monte. He really wants to make sure the grille is right because of this club for potential sales. Hopefully February will work for both of us to meet. I'll keep you posted as well. (1971 Monte Grille)

Be Sure and get plenty of angle pictures of the grille installed in your car. I have yet to see one installed besides Andreas' powdercoated version.

The 72 is the grill they were having the issues with fitting properly with the turn signals. Hopefully they'll be able to get this cyphered out.

I understand that, but he seems to be unsure of the 71 grille as well. Anyway I hope to meet with him next month and we'll see what he has.

The 70 and 71 grille should be the same.

What's wrong with the 71 Grill? confused

The only thing I had to do to make mine fit perfectly is to elongate the mounting holes a little bit, no big deal...

I think it looks great...

Yours does look great Andreas, I was just reporting what he sent me in his email. He said he wants it perfect because of the potential sales from our club.

So is the 70 grill available to purchase then?

The 70-71 grill is available. After they get the 72 grill fitting properly we are going to set up a group buy with them. Not sure what the details would be as of now. If you can wait you'll get a better deal. I'm holding out for the group buy myself.
