7tonemonte Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I picked up a new hood pad finally, it says for the black and gray pad to put the skin side facing the hood. Im assuming the black/gray side faces the motor and by skin side they mean the smoother more finished side of it? What did everyone else do?
Sam (Bones) Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 that is correct Tony, or that's how I've seen them installed
monte70car Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Yep the black/grey side towards the motor and the unface side against the hood.
MC-71 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 The itchy side faces the engine. I like the finished side facing the engine. I wish someone comes out with the OEM style. I talked to Hinshaws a few years ago at Carlisle and he said it was in the works. I have Mirror Finish Stainless Steel under my hood for the finish look. Carl
7tonemonte Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 Thanks for that guys, Carl, Ive seen the stainless in the triangles under the hood, I really like that look! This one fit nice, but it wasnt like OEM like you said.
MC-71 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 My S.S. is the same size as the hood insulation. Held up with automotive screws and small chrome door edge trim all around the raw edge. Each screw goes to where the insulation push ins would go. No extra holes. Car is driven and never had any problems with running HOT. Sorry no pictures. Need someone to help me with that. Carl
stangeba Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I've replaced the under hood insulation twice over the years. The first time it came in a huge box like 12" x 12" x 50 and was just like OEM. The last one I bought fit into a large envelope. I'm kidding, but the box was very small and the insulation is much thinner. Bruce
