Dans '70 Z20 Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Email Larry Ray. vmrmachining@aol.com He is an FGMCC member and reproduces the two upper hockey sticks for 71 SS cars at his machine shop. They are done in stainless steel and he does a great job. I think he may do the center section to. Â There is another guy reproducing the center section only ... in mid west. Contact: Monteman1971 on boards ...... Steve Levanti on Long Island he knows the guys name. I am thinking "John Williams" or something like that. Â Dan Quote
Jared Richey Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 The upper long center piece is the same as the lower, just flipped upside down.  The lower hockey sticks you can get from TRIM PARTS and they are the best ones thats reproed made out of the original pot metal, but like said the upper 71 SS only pieces are one offs by Larry made of Stainless Steel unlike the originals and they are great and far better than original  The reproduction center piece is good quality, I bought one from Leo one time, its Dynacorn brand I believe. KLASSIK1 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Jared the upper and lower trim pieces are not the same the upper has clearance on the inner lip to clear the trunk when closed i believe they will work either way and not cause a problem , i have a complete rear 71 ss 454 NOS set , i currently have a deposit on the 6 pc set from a loyal customer so it is sold , only set i have ever seen or had , the after market sets are not currently available , we are having several sets reconditioned right now from original gm pieces  Leo Quote
Jared Richey Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Anyone know about 72? Â No one is reproducing them for 72 yet. I really can't understand why, they are so many 72s, looks like a fortune could have been made already selling these things. Â As as far as the upper/lower 70-71 pieces I used a couple of NOS ones I had laying around on my street/strip car, on top and bottom, no problems, I just flipped it upside down. Â I sure didn't know they were a difference, because the lower piece works fine on the top. I bet thats a rare piece then. Â BTW...If someone has a pic of the original upper special 71 SS Long center piece that Leo mentioned installed on their 71 SS I would like to see it so I will know the difference. Quote
KLASSIK1 Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Jared , we had the full set on our website , having some issues right now with the site long story , however i can get you a pic or good description over the phone , it has clearance in the very center i believe for the trunk lock retainer clip , you can easily see the differance , it is a rare piece i never thought there was a differance then i realized there was , give me a call Jared , got the plates also talk to you soon my friend , as far as the 72 rear trim Nos used or reconditioned are the only options right now  Leo Quote
Jared Richey Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Will do Leo, I'll call you tomorrow. Quote
Vaughn Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Leo, If you have a good picture I wouldn't mind seeing it when you have time. Â Thanks, Vaughn Quote
MC-71 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I also would like to see that picture. I have a bunch of those pcs and if I remember I have one or two that are different in the middle. Always thought that 70 and 71 were different on the lower pc because of a larger notch. Quote
Jared Richey Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Ok... Â The GM Part # for the NOS molding I have is 870088 which is Notched for about 6" in the middle. I have discovered in my stash of moldings 2 different Lower pieces that were used, one that is not notched, the other that is notched for about 6 inches like i just mentioned right in the center, which are the same NOS moldings I used bottom and top on the red monte, which is also the same part that Dynacorn must be reproducing because its just like that on my 70 which I used the new repro piece that I got from Leo. Â So is this what is different? Or are they a very special piece that was made for the 71 SS upper only. Â Quote
Big Jim Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Is anyone making the horshoe pieces above the tailights? Quote
7tonemonte Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Trim Parts is making them Jim, I think Leo carries them, I got mine from Luttys Chevy or The Parts Place. They fit nice, and look great, have held up fine also Quote
Big Jim Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I just got them in from trim parts. Look and fit great. Is anyone reproducing the stainless drip rail moldings? Quote
KLASSIK1 Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 no , we carry repolished sets , as well we are a full line trim parts dealer and sell under catalog prices  Leo Quote
Mom's Car Posted October 25, 2010 Author Posted October 25, 2010 "The Parts Place" has been out of stock for a while. If I remember correctly, the botton piece may not be right but I can use it on the top. I got the "Hockey Sticks" from the dude who makes them. They will be the nicest piece on my car. Quote
Monteman1971 Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 It was/is Ted Williams Enterprises that made the lower, center, reproduction trim. It's real nice, solid aluminum but matches perfectly. Â Ted past away sometime ago but his company is still there. The Parts Place was your best bet for it but you can call around to some of the other reproduction guys and see if they still have one in stock. You can also do a search on Ted Williams Enterprises and call them direct. Â Greg...call Ray at Muscle Car Headquarters right in Farmingdale. He may have one 516-753-0720, he has strange hours... call after 5-5:30 Tuesday through Friday. Â Steve Quote
kc8oye Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Leo can *I BELIEVE* get you stuff from Ted Williams Enterprises. Quote
Mom's Car Posted October 30, 2010 Author Posted October 30, 2010 Hey Steve............good call on Muscle Car Hq...........I picked up the molding last night. You would never know that place was there. When I looked inside I thought it was an episode of Hoarders. The dude said to tell you he said Hi.....thanks again Quote
