Not a super night but pretty happy with what she did. At least the MPH. The carb is not right with a wicked bog. Short times were in the toilet. And the alternator took a dump so I borrowed one of the batteries from Towmater. Had to call it a night after two runs as the right hand valve cover gaskert split leaving a haze of oil behind the car. Just didn't want to be that guy that shuts the track down.

Pass one bogged pretty bad and only ran a 2.68 60 foot. But here goes.

Run 1

2.68 60 foot

ET at 11.71

MPH 119.78

Bogged worse netting an even worse 60 foot.

2.97 60 foot

ET 11.96

MPH 118.12

Swapping the AED 1050 HO carb and putting the new valve covers I got for Xmas last year.

Heading back out Friday night.

Dang Andy. Talk about turning it on on the lower end. I bet you fooled a few guys with slower cars. grin

That thing will run 10s easy.

it's good to start out in the 11's!! Now that the back half of the car won't rust you can concentrate on dialin' in the motor. The more better carb should do a wonderous thing and knock a second and some 10th's off the 60. Then you'll be back at the front of the line and ready to do some serious commuting.

Good things come to those who install new valve cover gaskets....woo hoo ....the Davey

The crazy thing for Friday is going to be putting her carb back on that I lent to the 71. The car has always left a tires in the air 1.55 60 foot. Last night I got the tires in the air 10 foot, then it acts like you turned the key off. So right now she is down a second a ten miles per hour off.

I was truly under the assumption the carb did something else on someone elses car that it did not do. Turns out this carb never ran any better than an 11.70 on any car. So why bother? I am putting the 71 back to full exhaust, AC, and stereo. The carb on Bu now is definately a different animal that seems really fast on Bus street setup. But that pump gas 496 in Bu really likes to pull like a bullit train ll the way to 6900. That 850 on her now just can't do the short that she likes.

I did get busted up for outdated seatbelts but that was it. This time the tech guys wer on the car like white on rice. They challenged everything on the car down to a Cert sticker on the cage where I accidently scratched it. They crawled under the car, crawled in the back seat, was all up in her underhood.

I guess they remember last year when I blasted off a 9.66@141 on a 250 shot of Go Fast Gas, grabbed my timeslip, and never stopped. Just drove her home.

Everything on the car works. Lights, wipers, horn, turn signals. After running the car for 13 or so years I finally installed a removeable steering wheel and a NHRA legal swing out door bar. She runs full exhaust and 255/60/15 MT Drag Radials.

Now for the sad story on why I keep the POS. In early 1995 the car was bought by my brother in law from Atlantic Recycling junk yard for $600 as a running 3.8 chevy TH200 combo. His wife at the time wanted Buddy to build himself a drag car.

At the time Buddy was involved in a custody battle over his son who was stolen by his ex girlfriend. Buds new wife Shelly worked for the PI who found his son. She had just given birth to a new son,, Freddy, the one I tried to kill in a ATV racing accident.

On January 13th, 1997 Buddy had returned from his final court date announcing his win in the custody battle over Danial, Buds then five year old son. He got home at 7 pm and Shelly was sitting on the couch feeding two week old Fred. Shots were fired. Shelly took a .38 Special round in her right eye, killing her instanty. Buddy was shot twice in the head and once in the back. Buddy lived, Shelly did not.

It seems Francis, the ex girlfiends grand mother as well as Daniels caretaker for the two years Daniel was missing was waiting in the bushes for Buddy to get home. Frances shot the two through the front window. She was 74 years old then. She was found guilty of murder and attempeted murder and died in prison in 2002.

I towed the Malibu out of Buddy's backyard the next day and the rest is history.

Does anyone elses car have a story to tell?

Greg, I appreciate that. Just got back from Uncle Buddys 42nd birthday party. It was a good night.

And to clear something up, that carb that was on Bu did NOT come from anyone here at FGMC. That carb came from a guy who owns a shop down the road. No wonder why Tommy bailed on it on his 68 Malibu. I should of went with one of Davey's carbs I got a few months back. But the milled off choke horn looked cooler. Still dwelling on shiny things after all these years.
