I came across this interesting fact as I was doing some on-line research. Here's the question:

In our beloved Chevy V-8s, what is the single most highly-stressed part of the engine?

I'm thinking either the head bolts or the rod bolts.

It's a toss up. Valvetrain, rod bolts. Seems those are always the first to go when something happens.

connecting rod or rod bolts.. since they have to endure the force of bringing the piston to a stop, and then reversing it's direction a gazillion times a minute..

How long do we endure the suspense? grin

The starter and flywheel...th_1sm032dunno.gif

Pistons? Only say that because of the stress caused by the actual combustion and heat in a confined space, which exerts high pressures /stresses on the piston surface.

tis the valve springs.. the answer lies in another post on here..

I am guessing the oil. It is the "blood" of the engine and cannot live without it.
