Chevyss Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 HELP~~ Where can I buy a roll cage for the Monte? Winter project. Since I can't give the car away I'll just fix the way I want. Quote
Mike 57 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 S&W makes a kit for first gen Montes. Not a easy job. Quote
71monteme Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I'm doing the same thing. if you want a kit- summit or jegs is the easiest. if not find a good car builder and have it made for the car. I'm having the roll bar made by the same guy that built our t/s camaro that runs in the 6's. i think he knows what he's doing. thanh Quote
CrazyDavey Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 on the West Coast Chris Alston Chassisworks in Sacramento makes a nice kit....remember a roll cage is a 10 point...rollbar is a 6 point....6 point is good to 10 flat, 10 point cage to 8.50.... Quote
BowtieThunder Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 S&W Racecars is the cage I Bought Quote
Ian Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 S&W Racecars is the cage I Bought I used one of theirs on my 83' Olds Cutlass years ago. Great kit, need some fitting but worked good. Quote
Jared Richey Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 $600 for my 6 pt roll bar fabbed from scratch and installed. Quote
Blue502 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I just found out that most insurance companys will not cover you if you have a bar in the car. That sucks. Quote
Andy's Auto Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Bought mine from Summit for Bu. Manned up and installed it myself and just certified it to 25.5. Not an easy job but I try not to sub anything to anybody for any reason. Got tired of lowering my expectation. Quote

Chevyss Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Guess I'll have to check with American Collectors to see about the cage. Quote

Chevyss Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Cage arrived yesterday, now out comes the interior. Missing one box of parts, not sure what is in it. New gas tank goes in next week, battery is in the trunk. Carb is being built and looking for a new intake. Pictures to follow. Quote
