Andy's Auto Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Looks good, but don't make it too nice. Racecars are supposed to have a little weathering to them. At least that is my excuse.LOl Quote

You mentioned some dirt in the paint, when I did most of my painting we were still using acrylic lacquer. I would ususally put on between 15 and 20 coats (it was thin stuff). It would take a month in the sun for the paint to air out and settle but the nice thing was you just kept sanding until all the crap was out. The down side was back then the finest grit paper they had was 600, it took forever to buff it out.... Quote
BowtieThunder Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 Dave everytime I have painted a car it was in Lacquer this is my first with urethane.I actually like how the clear pulled down and how shiney it dryed.I used a slow hardener so maybe next time I paint something I will try Medium hardener...Beings I painted the car outside basically it collected alot of dust and dirt. The hood definitely needs resanded and buffed out again so I will let the paint dry and pull down... will do it again in about a month.I used 600 on the hood and you can see some scratches. The rest was done in 1000.I will get the car ready for the race this weekend. Montemedic Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 looking good. Good luck with the races this weekend and during your season. Quote
CrazyDavey Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 yeah if you used a slow hardner outside I can see how you would pick up a lot of crap. It's a trade off, slow will flow better but the medium will set up quicker and prevent some of that, it will just take more sanding. You can reduce your buffer time and risk of burning if you hit it with some 1500 or 2000 paper. The car looks very striking, should turn a few heads, let us know how she does.... Quote
BowtieThunder Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 well Car still has some little issues but the drover has more LMAOOOO man I blew both qualifying passes with a faulty T-Brake switch caused by me So First Round was set up to go in the 10.30 range and play stripe ..I caught and stayed ahead of the guy but he treed me and I ran under..I ran a 10.45 to his 55.... he had me covered in Reaction no way I could beat him Anyways will post some pictures later but here is my Green Car next to my Buddies Blue 70 LOL Quote
