ScottNM Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I was wondering what are some ways to take off weight of the monte without getting changing the stock look much. I want to keep interior as it is not a all out race car. I suppose a fiberglass hood at some point? I think 200# loss would get it equal to a chevelle? The AC compressor is like a boat anchor. Not sure what to do about that. Quote

dbreese Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Removal of the A/C components and P/B stuff and go manual (if you want) will net you about 100 lbs. If you are still running cast exhaust manifolds you can go to headers which will save you maybe 20 lbs or so. Â David Quote
71monteme Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 fiberglass fenders and a pin on hood, fiber glass bumper = roughly 120lbs of the front end. but it is very expensive as stated earlier. manual brakes, manual steering, ac delete, aluminum radiator, electric fan could net you another 50lbs. how much do you want to spend? what you're goal with the car? ScottNM Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Well, it is a street car. I do like the creature comforts fof PB and AC so do not want to go there. Just wondered how hard to get in down to chevelle weight. Looks like its too expensive for me right now. I think a lower gear in and gear vendor will happen in a year or so. Quote
Jared Richey Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 On the street a few hundred pounds you will tell no difference in the seat of your pants. I would leave it all alone unless you want a cowl hood, which the only way to get one is Glass unless you make your own. Quote
Blue502 Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 A well built 200 4R will work as an overdrive and be lighter then adding a Gear Vendors and cheaper then also changing your gear. Quote
