Mo's70MCs Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 How nice to see both flashers in the same location, the ATC fuse (panel) upgrade looks so much cleaner. Although where is the "AMP" rating of the circuits? What's to keep someone from amperage tampering? Are all circuits rated the same?
cbolt Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Took the dash apart and replaced the clock and the rest of the lights with the led's. Waiting on the new stereo to arrive
monte70car Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Rod there is nothing to keep someone from pulling a bigger fuse in. The fuses have the amperage on them and that's the only place. As for me I installed my reproduction by Chevrolet emblem on the car. Just have to pull the a/c firewall padding and start my next project cutting and welding.

I get it, so where's the protection in the circuit? At minimum a circuit panel schedule, what's to keep someone (not the owner) from inserting the wrong amperage? More importantly a higher one.
MCfan Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Took her out for a windows-down cruise to Advance Auto to pick up a power steering rebuild kit and then cruised on downtown to confirm I wasn't missing anything worth seeing or doing on a Friday night. Â Tomorrow the power steering pump comes off for a rebuild. Getting tired of PS fluid dripping on the garage floor.
CKZ03 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Installed my new condenser, my original had a hole in it. Re-vacuum tested AC system, no leaks, Im good to go Will be charging up the system soon.  This is the condenser I wound up getting for a replacement, figured I may as well change the dryer too. Good quality piece, had to tweek things a bit as with most aftermarket stuff.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/230692915698  Now its back to the spaghetti, I mean wiring   Â
Leghome Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 When I repaired my 72's A/C just before the Eastern Meet I had to replace the dryer pr the compressor warranty was null and void. I also replace it again when I had to get the new condenser just to be safe.
71MonteCarloMD Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Took the rear bottom seat out, discovered the original build sheet still attached to the seat on left side - was only able to get 2/3 out as 1/3 is still there
bigtankjones Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Welded in my front leftside cowl panel. I ran out of welding wire and only had a couple more spots to go. Next is seam sealer. Â
Leghome Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 It is usually best to prime the area before the seam sealer. Helps keep moisture from penetrating below the seam sealer and getting the rust started. That is what we recommend at Anderson Automotive Color when anyone ask us questions about seam sealer.
ddiddle Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 It was 60 and sunny here today - we had a good rain the other day that washed the salt off the roads, so I thought I'd uncover the Monte and take her over to the lumberyard to pick up a little thing I needed for a project. Â Pulled the cover, got in, turned the key and...dead battery. Profoundly dead. Back at Christmas, I'd gotten into the glove compartment and didn't shut the door and the light drained the battery. Disappointing! Â Got her charged back up finally, but too late to go anyplace.
monte70car Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Went out and looked at it and came back in I know I need to get it done. I could pull a Scott and show up and ask for help putting it together j/k Scott. Pictures will come of some major work hopefully this weekend.
mrj52 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Recieved my new rear coil springs, a new tcs solonoid, a battery pad. Still awp on my hood insulation. I am retiring the drag radials and have installed new tires on the rear and after all these years im going to put the fenderwell mouldings on.

I am not done welding on it yet. I just sprayed Etching primer on the bare metal til I can get at it this weekend and finish it. Yes I am going to spray some Primer sealer then do the seam sealer. This is not my 1st Rodeo.
CKZ03 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 There is a direct to metal 2 part seam sealer available with corrosion resistant properties built into it too. But putting down either some epoxy or etch prime is always a good thing to do regardless, we want these cars to last another 40+ years. Of course gasoline probably wont exist 40 years from now and they will all be converted to electric or nuclear cars by then. Check out my Big Battery 454 mega-amp elecric motor SS

bigscaht Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 painted the firewall today and finished the frame!
72 LS5 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Finally got my MSD installed - neatly tucked away from sight. Now I have get rid of the radio buzz its giving me....
71 MONTE 4 YA Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Caught a great deal on some POR-15 product. This guy had it all for sale for $100 on the local Craigslist. Six 14 oz cans of Chassis Coat Semi-Gloss Black, one quart of Solvent, two quarts of Prep & Ready, and one gallon of Marine Clean. Great deal!! Can't wait to use it one day.
Sam (Bones) Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 mounted the flywheel, clutch and bellhousing, just painted the dust shield almost ready to drop it in the hole Â
Heff Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Ordered detent shift plate from Shiftworks for the 1-2 power shift.
monte70car Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I used my body saw to cut some what of a hole for the non-a/c heater core. I got that one area to fill back in with the plate I cut out. And with the firewall back in place I think it will look good once its done.
bigtankjones Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I finished up my spot welding on my Front Cowl. Found a little bit of High Build Primer in my cabnet and mixed some up and gave it a few coats.
