Murph Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 I am trying to trouble shoot my brake lights and signals. Does anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for a 1972 model on the internet? Quote
MCfan Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Hi, Patrick, Here's a page from the '70 Wiring Diagram Manual that might get you started. I can't imagine that anything as basic as rear lighting changed between '70 and '72, but maybe it did. If you need to see any of the other pages in the manual just click on this link: 1970 Wiring Diagram Manual photos Good luck resolving your problem. Quote

Murph Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Thanks. I am not sure what the issue is. It has tail lamps, but no signals or brake lights. I am going to work on it tomorrow. Hopefully, it will be as simple as the ground. Thanks again for the help. Murph Quote
Sam (Bones) Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 even front turn signals? I take you made sure! the fuses were all good I'd make sure you have power at and coming out of the brake light switch since it's easy to check, just use a 12volt test light, if you do, then power goes to the turn signal switch, when you turn the turn signal on, it over rides the brake light power and sends power from the flasher to the turn signals (front & rear) and the rear brake/turn is thru the same bulb filament, so if the fronts are working either, and the fuses are good, I would suspect the turn signal switch itself Quote
Murph Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 That makes sense..BTW, the fuses are good...LOL Quote
Sam (Bones) Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 are the front turn signals working??? Quote
stangeba Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Patrick, One tool I use is asking "what has changed?" Did you change, replace, do anything just prior the problem starting? Remove steering column, weld new sheet metal, replaced carpet, change radio, work on the IP cluster. Using your 12 volt test light and following the wiring diagram, start at one end and work to the other end till you get or loose power. Good luck, Bruce Quote
