Mike G Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Going from a stock 10 bolt to a Moser 12 bolt do I need to shorten the drive shaft? The drive shaft looks longer now. Quote
dbreese Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Yep it is shorter for the 12 bolt app. I can't remember exactly but i want to say it was 54 1/2" for my app. This was measured from the center of the trans yoke joint hole to the center of the pinion yoke hole. IIRC I pushed the trans yoke in until it bottomed out then pulled it out about an inch then took the measurments. I just went and had another d/s built since I was going to 1350 joints and was making a little more power. BTW the measurements need to be taken with the suspension at rest. David Quote
Mike G Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Thanks Dave, 54 1/2 was the magic number. Dropped the d/s this morning and it will be done later today. One step closer to testing out the 3:73's Quote
dbreese Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Cool deal! You will like the 3.73! Mileage may suffer but I measure smiles per gallon! David Quote
Mike G Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Ohhhhh ya! I will make up for it with a 700 R4. Lower 1st gear over the TH350. Even more smiles. Heehee Quote
Leghome Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 More rubber left on the road with a 700R4 and 3:73 gears. Don't ask how I know cause I ain't tellin. Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Mike you better get that baby back together and get some test drive miles on that unless your plaining on trailering it to Carlisle. Its almost time guys, lets get them all rolling. Quote
