I missed the ad, does anyone have a copy or failing that, what color was the car?

In 43 years, not ONE legitimate,, documented LS-6, 4 speed 454, or convertible has EVER surfaced. If one or four or ten existed, it would have surfaced by now. Whoever got it new would have known how unique it was and would have at least passed on the story when it changed hands. There are tons of "my brothers barbers next door neighbor had one" or "I remember sitting in one on the showroom floor" story's but not ONE real, documented car yet. 43 years and still waiting....... Just my opinion, I could be wrong...

Try Ecklers Corvette. Go to the engine related tab and choose emissions. They have a bunch of hoses listed. You should be able to have them verify lengths etc.

No, that applied to El Camino's and any other car that only had air shocks but not the Superlift compressor system. You had to keep a minimum pressure in them, not zero psi. Because our cars had the compressor and self leveling sensor, we did not need the warning label.

Small block and big block are different. The big block stuff is rare. It is not reproduced and most folks threw it all away when they went to headers and open element air cleaners. I know I did. (sound of shoe hitting butt!)

Yes. Back in that era you could pick and choose your options. Sometimes you had to order one option to get another (air conditioning required tinted glass) but yes, power door locks could be ordered without power windows and vice versa.

Tony, I put mine on without adhesive but figured I'd use contact cement if they popped off. So far no problems.

Maybe it was a supplier thing? Mine is black and original to the car as far as I know. I'm second owner and have had it 36 years now.

I heard the same thing that Heff did. Supposedly the bell housing was mounted to the engine and they were sprayed as a unit. When it was installed it was a variable amount of over spray dependent on the painter. The dust shield/ inspection plate was black. Personally I'd just do the bell housing in natural aluminum and call it good.

My 70 big block was a side terminal from the factory. I've always used DELCO batteries. Bought my current one in 1999. I don't use the car much, 200 miles a year or so but it stays on a battery tender most of the time. I had always heard that the side post created less corrosion than top post. Don't know if it's true or not. By the way, OhMonte (Joe) where in DELCO are you? There are a couple of us in Chester Ccounty, me, and 7tonemonte (Tony).

Not mine then, mine was Rosewood Metallic with black Vinyl top and Black cloth bench. Yours sounds like a nice one.

@ ITS JUST ME Do you have pictures of the car and or what color and options does your car have? I had a 71 SS454 car that was a Baltimore build and I still have the build sheet for it.

Fasten seat belt light was for cars sold on or after Jan 1, 1972. I had a brand new 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme bought the day of introduction in Oct, 1971 that did not have the seat belt light. A friend got a new 72 Cutlass in March 1972 and it had the system. I've never seen a 71 Monte with the system and there are some early 72's that don't have it.

The tank venting system does not reduce performance or horsepower, it only controls fumes. Personally I'd go with what GM put there. It does not "improve" anything to eliminate it. Just my opinion.

Easily identifiable with pictures. The shape of the frame from the firewall to the front control arms is a totally different shape from a Chevelle. That's why a 4 speed cross shaft bracket is different from a Chevelle to a Monte. Post a picture.

According to a July 1972 printing date parts book: 1970-1972 Monte 400 4-bbl TH400 is Part # 3949163, That said, sometimes a part will have a "part number" that is different from it's "casting" number. So, if you ordered a 3949163 the package might have that number on it and the part could be stamped 386740. I looked up 386740 in the numerical cross reference and that number is not there. Hope this helps.

I'm with David. I have a big block, 4 speed 70 with A/C. My entire cooling system is stockity stock stock and it cools perfectly. My A/C need a charge now, but when it worked, my car could idle forever with the A/C on in summer heat and NEVER get close to overheating.

If you are not running an overflow bottle, the radiator fill line is about 2 1/2" below the neck to allow for expansion. If you fill it to the bottom of the filler, it will puke every time. Just a thought.

I bought a little kit at my Chevy dealer several years ago. It was $4.95 Two wires hooked up to a buzzer. Pretty simple install. One lead goes to the inst lamps fuse and the other you use a test lead to find a circuit that goes dead when IGN is turned off. Buzzer stays off if lights are on and IGN is on, when lights are on and IGN off, the buzzer sounds.
