https://elementfire.com link to the companies site. I got a few of these about a year ago and they are very compact, and had great reviews from people who have used them. Generally I think about 90 seconds worth of use. One in my car, one in my sons, one in garage in the magnetic holders. I feel safer anyway

Looks great! Can’t wait to see it in Carlisle

My neighbor fixed his with some stuff designed for that, it looked pretty bad. Apparently it’s a known issue with those vehicles

Dennis, would the original alternator be the same from my71 or are you looking for date coded correct? I have the one I pulled off my car years ago saved in the shed I can check the numbers on it if you’d like

Congratulations, very nice looking Monte!

Looking forward to seeing the crew again! -
Wow that’s quite a mess! Amazing the way the rust ate it completely, and a southern car too? I would not leave it on the trailer too long, it may be contagious

What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?
7tonemonte replied to Canuck's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
I’d assume it was basically turnout into a 1 line feed but I’m not sure. Gonna start with fuel filter and go from there I suppose, but it’s kind of acting like it’s flooded -

Just went through this on mine. I ordered the wrong sender, has a return line and my original doesn’t. I plugged the line as I originally thought it was a vent line, now the car shut off on the way home from gas station 😡 I am not sure where to start now to figure out the issue. I ran it out of gas last week, that’s why I finally replaced the sender Start with fuel filter or unplug the return line and put a vent valve on it? When it got hot it stalled out like it was starving for fuel and was kind of a bear getting it started again, acted like it was flooded though -
Congratulations Dennis. Nice find. You are going to need a car carrier to get them all to Carlisle 🤣

Rob, wire to gauge was fine as it went to empty when grounded. After years of it fluctuating off and on I figured it was the sending unit, but it may have finally given up, and I know how replacement parts are never quite the same so I was trying to leave this alone as long as possible.

About 3/4 mile from home, if it wasn’t such a big hill I’d have made it home 🤣 Alli got there with some ethanol free lawn mower gas that was stashed in the garage and we got home no issues. The owner of the home that we pulled into was more than happy to have the Monte there, told me I could leave it as long as I wanted , and his kids came out to check out the cool old car in the driveway. Love where I live, everyone is more than willing to lend a hand, he offered up some lawn mower gas he had but I knew I had it covered, Alli brought gas and a tow strap just in case, just like the old days Anthony would have learned the proper way to tow a car up and down hills on the way home.

Thanks Joe, I ended up ordering from Dixie, $37 plus 10 shipping so I’m good. I wasn’t sure about return line or not but got under and looked at it. Literally 2 days after another order I placed so that sucks but shipping was fair. Wasn’t OPG pricing 🤣

Typically once a year or so my sending unit goes out and the gauge reads about 3 o’clock 🤣. Went out last year at Carlisle and hasn’t come back yet, and I obviously miscalculated my driving since then as we ran it empty today. Need to replace it now so, any units better than another? 71, small block car, it’s been a long time since I replaced the tank so I don’t remember if they had vent tubes or not I have to look. just seeing what others have used so I don’t have to do it more than once hopefully edit, just looked under there and there is 2 lines. Assuming that’s feed and return line? There is 2 listed for a 71, with just feed line, and feed and return line.

So what was stock on these cars? 18”, or 17”?
-
Yea Mark, that’s exactly where it happened. I’ve been caught up in plenty of hot weather but that’s the first it hit 220ish.
-
Id end up buying the 2 pack and by the time I go to replace it again, I’d lose the 2nd one and have to buy it again 🤣 that’s how they get ya!!

Going over some stuff on my car for the new season and I was curious about clutch fans. My car is a 71, small block (mostly stock) when I got it, it had a basic 4 blade fan on it, no clutch setup. last year at Carlisle was the first time it ran hot ever on me, and since then I flushed the coolant and refilled, it had been probably 10 years since I did it. Question is, did they all come with a clutch fan assembly and what,if anything, would be the benefit of putting one on my car? Also, any special one? no interest in electric fans at this time Thanks! Looking forward to driving it again here, waiting for nicer weather 😁

Impressive turnout already for a mini meet!!! Anthony is looking forward to having his car in with the crew, even if it not a first gen. We registered him with the club for Carlisle, and Alli is most likely entering the Caddy also so that will be another listed with the Fgmcc for Carlisle. A taste of 60 degrees today got me looking forward to warmer weather and seeing the crew again! Tony
