Guilty !! Thanks for the advice Davey and I will pull them and use the sealer.I saw how loose they were and just became curious so I tighten them to see if it helped .I started in the center and worked back to them like you should.After you guys were agreeable on the problem and after I tighten the bolts I jacked the Monte up and looked closer in the area and I definitly could see a wet path starting from the top and very close to where the head meets the block.Its funny how you can look and not see but with advice it becomes visible ! ,Guess what Guys ? I could'nt believe how loose they were !!I could of turn a couple with my fingers.I torqued what I could and used wrenches ect to get the others.I will keep an eye on them from now on.Started it and watched but no antifreeze ,left it run and kept watch .I'll keep an eye on it for the next couple of days to be sure. What would the intake bolts torque be ? I have them for the iron heads ,don't know if the aluminum is different. Thanks Terry

Your right Davey ,just easy street miles,maybe a burnout in front of the house now and then ,just to let the passer byers know there could be danger lurking in the neighborhood :-). Davey,When I start it later today or tomorrow,I'll run my fingers around the back and see if there's anything.I just felt around there but found nothing but its still warm and not leaking until it cools Terry

Thanks Rob,I just checked the milage and when I bought the engine,it has 6,300 mi and this november it will be 2 yrs.I'm not sure but it may may have a 2 yr warranty.I plan on having it pressure checked next week before I call them,I guess it will show up with the test. If not still under warranty I'll have the gasket changed later when I'm through using it for the yr. Terry

Hi Davey, Its a small puddle on the floor,coming from the left rear of the engine.I jacked it up and seen where its coming from. It doesn't appear to be coming from the top of the head and manifold but wet right at the bottom rear where it meets the block. Terry

Hi guys, I'm leaking a small amount of Antifreeze when the engine is cold but seals when warmed up.I noticed on startup in the mornings there's a small amount, about a teaspoon/tablespoon size leaking from the left rear of where the block and head meet but after driving it and shutting it off ,I have no leak not until it cools and restart. Do you think I can retorque the head bolts or am I needing a gasket replaced.I'm thinking of trying block sealer if retorque doesn't work. The engine is the ZZ454 Aluminum heads. Opinions /comments will be helpful. Thanks,Terry

Hi Robert, If you read my post in the last couple of days "Rad Overflowing" Mine started overflowing bad this past wk end,it may of been doing it a little off and on. I changed the stat thinking it may been stuck open forcing it back to the rad too fast and allowing it to come out the overflow. I used this funnel type thing,don't know what its called but it get all the air out of your system. It has a seal on the bottom which acts like the lower seal on the cap preventing it from coming out the overflow and also has a cap built on it to tighten down where your reg cap would go.You fill the rad up full then place this on and tighten the cap.You can put some antifreeze in the top so you can see it bubbling while getting all the air out.this is like running it without the cap but don't have the spilling out when it burps.You allow it to run until all the air is out.Mine had a large amount of air ,it took about 1/2 hr for it to stop bubbling,You also need to turn the heater on too.I had to add more Antifreeze to it after some of the air come out.The extra that I added to the top of the funnel thingy when I started went down and needed to add more just to see the bubbles so I would know when the air is all out. Some one here will know the name of this likley. I took a pic of it and will ask Tony (Green tony) if he will post it . I think the stat was partial the problem but mostly the air pockets. Terry

Rather be lucky then good anyday Didn't even need to go to the parts place,had the empty water bottle on hand ,2 tie wraps ,anti,and the stat was a spare that I keep on hand Terry

I believe I found the problem,changed the stat which I think was stuck open and forcing the water to fast thru the rad and pushing it out.Drove for 12 or so miles after the stat open with the bottle still in place and no coolant coming out the overflow. Thanks Terry

Just started having a problem with antifreeze coming out the overflow. Its only running around 200 with A/C on & 90 deg out,put another cap from a known good rad ,have a recent new 4 row rad,new pump that came on the crate engine ZZ 454,not over filled,good flow thru rad (looking with the cap removed)Its been doing fine for the last couple of yrs,just started this. No leaks anywhere,I straped a 12oz bottle to the side of the rad and placed the over flow hose in and the bottle filled up after running about 15 miles. Any Ideas what the problem could be ? Hi Jim,Thats what I have always used ,10 W 30 and I guess thats what should be used,So likely I'll keep using it. I think the Lucas zinc additive will be the way to go,thanks Terry

Goodmorning all, A quick question for you engine Gru's. Will using 20 w 50 on my flat tappet engines be ok ? I'm using Vavoline VR-1 with zinc in my Crate 454 and have been using the Lucas zinc additive on the others.Will using this weight harm the oiling in the others?I would like to use the VR-1 in them all and only need to keep one type on hand and instead of buying the additive for each oil change. My concern is that with the 20 w 50 being to much for a stock 350. Thanks , Terry

Hi Fred I talked to the pc tech today but he has no idea and really doesn't want to even try.He gave a lot of if's but none was adressing this updating of the definition thingy that I've had with all the security centers. He wasn't interested ,so much for him. Norton was giving me such a fit with not allowing me to sign in and other weird things ,I uninstalled it and reinstalled microsoft security essentials again,I've had more satisfaction with them .I turned off the auto update and will manually update the definitions when its needed,I thought I have nothing to loose. It scans for updates all the time when its set for auto and it may be hitting a "gremlin" somewhere along the way..I'll let you know how it goes.So far its doing ok . I have never did a fresh install of XP and to my knowlege no one else have.I had a problem in the fall of 2010 with some kind of virus where I couldn't surf the web and it was very slow so I took it to the shop and don't know what all he did but it has been working great other than this updating thing. It was doing it before he worked on it and after as well(Definitions) Someone some time ago when I was discussing this updating thing said it could be because its so old,but a friend purchased one the same time as i and he has no problems. I'll talk to the guy that worked on it in the past and see if he has had this before. I'll let you know what I come up with .Thanks again Fred Terry

Thanks for your patience Fred, Yes I'm running Norton 360 ,I think its the 4 version,I'll check my account to be sure ,It wouldn't allow me on when I tried but I'll check again. I read the forum on norton as you sugested and thats the same problem I'm having.Thankyou for searching for it . I also have done many of the same task as they.Its with all the Internet Security centers I'm having this problem,I'm strongly thinking I have something in my files thats causing the problem. I checked the time,date and Language and its fine. I'm very limited on knowlege on these computers ,I need things black and white if you know what I mean Also the "One click Fix It " as they spoke of won't run and shows an error .I also cleaned my registry today as they did. I'm at this point being protected but when I run a live update it show the definitions are out dated as they said theirs were doing. Its strange but I'll run it by you ,,when its updating as it should ,you can check your status and the updating is showing its running and checking for new updates and it shows it running by the seconds ,minutes .It will show that last update was so many minutes ago ect.But now it shows that it hasn't been updated for 189 days and just the other day when it was checking for new updates it was only minutes or even 2-3 days,I don't know why its showing that many days,It happen after I re installed it. I don't want to take up you time with this but i thankyou very much for your response.at this point I am thinking about taking it to the shop,what is your advise on that ? Thanks Fred , Terry

Yes I uninstalled previous AV before installing another I'm running Windows XP I'm using windows buit in firewall and have high speed internet When I said "Get it back,I meant get the updated definitions started working like it should and the protection. I'm still being protected at this time but the Virus Definitions are out dated so its just a matter of time when it will show that I'm not being protected from viruses but the others like firewall ect will not be affected and is being protected as it should.its just the viruses not being updated like it should .When I view the details it says that its because of the Definitions failing . Yes I can still surf the web witout any problem. I was using Microsoft security essentials and it would update fine and keep the pc protected witout any issues but I would have to either reboot or manually run the update to get it back about wkly but it got so that it wouldn't no matter what I tried so I uninstalled it and installed Norton and it did ok for about 2-3 wks and it started the same thing,This was a few months ago and I have been putting up with it.I would reboot ect with Norton but now they won't update the virus definitions. They both would update without failure for a while ,could be a wk or 2-3 witout failure then stop and then leaving the pc unprotected. At this time ,I'm using Norton and is's showing that I'm protected but when I check the status it has not updated so within a few hrs/or a day it will stop being protected then I'll have to uninstall ,reboot,ect and what ever else I come up with,its a real pain.
