  5. I agree. Rob does a lot of preplanning and work to get it right. Another successful Carlisle “Mini Meet” 2021 in the books. Thank you Rob for all of your hard work in setting up these Meets. It is always great seeing old friends and making new one’s at these FGMCC events. Congratulations to all the Showfield Class winners too. Looking forward to seeing everyone and participating in the 2022 Eastern Meet.
  6. Please see the posting in the General Forum regarding this event.
  7. Great news Steve. I’m sure a bit of Florida sunshine will help you greatly !!! A speedy recovery for you !!!
  8. Feel better Steve. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
  9. I have a Pypes stainless steel exhaust system on my Monte SS. Depending on what you are looking to do as far as stock, (factory correct) I would go with a Gardner exhaust system. They make an excellent product. I wanted a stainless steel exhaust system with free flowing turbo style mufflers and went with Pypes. They make the same system in aluminized steel too. It’s on my Monte now 10 years now, looks like new and sounds great. I get a lot of compliments on it. I do not have a lift and didn’t want to install it on my back so I had a local muffler shop install it. It fit very well with no issues. I went with straight dual exhaust, no H or X pipe also. Any questions, please PM me.
  10. Welcome back Kenny. If you have some time and want to take a ride out to Long Island, there is always something going on out here. The car show season is starting to slow down. We do get together weekly on Sunday mornings (weather permitting) and cruise out by Robert Moses State Park to one of the various cruise in locations. This particular cruise goes year round (weather permitting) or until the first road sand - salt goes down. PM me if you would like to join us. I will give you all the particulars then. We are a large group of active FGMCC members. Come join us for "Cars and Coffee". Again, welcome back and good luck with your Master degree studies.
  11. I’ll second what Scott said. Call and talk to Chris at Straub Technologies. He is very well respected in his field. He will discuss your wants and needs and recommend the right cam for your engine. Well worth your time.
  12. Rob, I sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. Condolences and prayers for all.
  13. Congratulations Larry. That's a great story and tribute to your Uncle and should be retold .
  14. Mike, I'm in for one. I'll PM you my info. Thank you for putting this together !!!
  15. Mike, I am interested too. Let us know what you find out. Thanks, CK
  16. Stock 454 LS-5, factory manifolds, Pypes complete stainless steel exhaust system, straight dual exhaust, 2 1/2 inch pipe, Street Pro mufflers and tailpipes in factory locations.
  17. I met Steve, Dan, Al, Mike, and Kurt (Mustang guy) for a nice cruise to the beach for coffee and then drove over to another local cruise in spot. It was a beautiful day weather wise and we all had a great time. Always nice to see the boys with their toys and go for a ride.
  18. I attended Hemmings Muscle Magazine's Musclepalooza XXI at Lebanon Valley Raceway in West Lebanon NY. I also went with Mike Talarek, a new FGMCC member who purchased Dave Reem's 1972 Monte Carlo. The event is held twice a year as a 1 day event, on the Sunday of the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. You can show, show and race or strictly race. The car show is for American muscle cars only. I went to show my car and Dave showed and raced. Racing is on a 1/4 mile drag strip. They run bracket racing by times from 14 seconds and slower down thru 9.99 and quicker, a late model shoot out for the newer muscle cars and the F.A.S.T (Factory Appearing / Stock Tire) racing cars. The car are stock and have to be factory appearing, that can have certain internal mechanical performance modifications. They race on belted tires, the same size that originally came from the factory on those cars, running down the track into the 9 second range. It's truly a sight to see. Both the car show and drag racing events were packed (unknown numbers) and set new attendance records for both. We had a great time, at a well run event and will be participating again, in the future.

    Gas cap

Many owners of the early cars with non vented systems have the same issue. Even with vented caps they can still build pressure. 1-2 1/8 inch holes drilled into the gas cap seem to work well with no leakage of gas and cures this problem.
  20. A very nice upgrade and a quality looking job. It looks very comfortable. Enjoy it !!!
  21. Pypes Race Pro mufflers. They are quieter than the Street Pro's with no interior drone. Check out the sound clips on their website.
  22. Congrats Tony, on finally getting the rear and control arms installed. I'm glad your enjoying your Monte and "new" parts. Leave a set of "stripes" in front of the house so the neighbors know you installed them. Enjoy your upgrades. Regards to Ali and the kids.
