  1. I am about to do the same to my Monte. It is a 1970 with a 350/350TH and a 2.73 open rear. I am running 235 60 R15 tires. I figure since I am changing the bullett out I should put a new speedometer gear in to correct the speedometer. I am having a problem finding the new color and number of teeth I need for the new gear. All of the websites ask for the old color/teeth info. Is there a way to determine what should be in there from the factory without removing the original? I am trying to get it completed all at the same time without making a mess of the garage floor. Any help is greatly appreciated. Brent
  2. It was beautiful day here in Tampa. Highs in the upper 60's with lots off sunshine. So I decided to take the Monte put for a ride. I pulled the car back and notices a trail of some liquid behind the car. Turns out it was coolant. Looks like either the water pump or the hose that comes out of the pump.
  3. My Monte is build number 0963. It was built on 26 August 1969. It is a 350 car. Not an SS.
  4. Although mine isn't an SS. My Monte was built 26 August 1969 in Van Nuys. The vin is just over 102,300. The data plate says the build date is 08D or the 4th week in August. The sequence number is about 22,000 and change. I don't have the exact numbers as I just moved from England to Florida and my papers are packed in boxes. All of these numbers to include build sheet are in the picture gallery on this site.
  5. The previous owner of my Van Nuys built Monte found a build sheet on top of the gas tank. He said it was in a plastic bag. I also found one in pristine condition in the bottom of the back seat. Unfortunately that one was for a different Monte.
  6. My VIN ends with 1002637. My sequence number on the build sheet and the data plate is 022513 and BL 00963.
  7. Wow. Thanks for the info. I wonder where these cars are now. It is funny how they processed the VIN numbers. My vin is 1002637 and as stated earlier was produced on 26 August 1969. There is a copy of my build sheet in my photo gallery at (still not good at posting photos): http://www.firstgenmc.com/photopost/show...n-t&cat=500 Here is a photo of my cowl tag confirming 4th week of August (08D): http://www.firstgenmc.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3897&title=cowl-tag&cat=500 Strangley enough the build sheet I found under the back seat for another Monte has a build date of 25 August (one day before mine) and has a higher vin number of 102813. That is 167 cars after mine. I hear that includes Chevelles and El Caminos. http://www.firstgenmc.com/photopost/show...ack&cat=500 Leo, I hope your father in laws gets better soon. Brent
  8. Mine was built in Van Nuys, California.
  9. I didn't want to hijack the thread on the Flint Build Sheets so I started this one. Leo posted he picked up a 1970 with build sequence number 00010. That seems like one of the earliest Montes around. Mine is 00963 and was built on 26 August 1969. Does anyone know if any of the earliest Montes belong to this site or if any are still around?
  10. My 70 was built with a 4 barrell in California and shipped to Colorado. The build sheet was found on the gas tank. I found another build sheet under the back seat for a different Monte built in California and shipped to a dealer in California. That car was built with a 2 barrell. I know it isn't a 72 but this may help the discussion.
  11. Great news!!! Keep getting better.
  12. I know the feeling. Due to a PCS my car is in storage for 3 years also. 6 months down and 2.5 years left til I can start working on it again.
  13. Took mine to a car show and it was the only Monte there. It got a lot of attention.
  14. We got a nice day here in Colorado in February. So I took the car for a ride to get some parts.
