After looking at the spot. or big dent. I was thinking a small drop of water on the camera lens? Wet parking lot. Raining day. Weird reflection on bottom of spot. Trying to be positive. lol

Skirts look their best on a cadillac. AND women ofcourse lol

This is what happens in a parking lot with a jealous person with a shopping cart ., Must been a cart of bricks or a running start to get to this much dentage lol This is why the 1st owner took the car back from the wife and parked it in his garage for 25 years. So no one could hurt his baby again lol Then he retires and sells it, to another car flipper to sell to me. All because of a jealous person with a shopping cart . Now that big dent in photo looks like someone backed their f150 into that Monte.

I know, Black is the best lol but then I got greedy. looks like tic tacs every color monte parked around my corner lot house it lol got 3 out of 6 to go to the labor day show, I ran out of drivers but next year i will get more to the show -
That's a classy looking car. I'd would buy that if i didn't have one . Paint and body work is 25k in my area. 35k is a honest price. If it was a custom then would be worth the 45k

I would say Black is number 1. Red is secound best. Blue is 3rd. Green is 4 th. Mohave gold is a real nice color, then cortez silver is sharp with a black top. -

Here is a picture of my green car. Forest green but not as dark as some i've seen. Different years different shades -
Good thing the other classics are so pricey, Now the Montes can bring in the money. I see alot of montes on facebook, Anyone can ask for 55k but will it sell for that much, i doubt it. Buy a SS at that price and watch it go up later. 55k i want electric windows and locks and tilt wheel and bucket seats. 55k for a 350 motor , wow can get a nice chevelle for 55k and they are more desirable in the classic car market. That is a 35k car , If that. But who am i to judge lol. Call that the internet pricing lol 97k miles lol 1 of 1 mohave gold? lol not even worth 25k . sorry i just can resist.

Go Green. White is ok with no top or black top. Green is a deep color. i think a 70 chevelle in white with black strips and black top is the sharpest looking white car. Montes need color to show off the body lines sharper. Plus you have a green interior. Plus that's the original color. $3500 is alot,I get that part, but long term it isn't much. I,ve spent that much in my dash board. Driving down the open road and seeingthe big green interstate signs reflect off your green hood is a amazing feeling. I bought my black Monte for 200 bucks. Headed for the scrap yard 25 years ago. People had no respect for Montes then. I wanted a budget car. Snowballed into 20k plus needs another couple thousand for AC and misc. Just blew up the budget motor last spring. Another 8k for a crate motor. So Yeah , don't let 3500 stop you. lol If you plan on keeping it, then go all out, Or buy one already mostly done correctly. tons of nice looking Montes on facebook going to reasonable prices. That last line if for the guy thinking of restoring one from ground up lol. I'm older now, so less time and alittle more money then before, budget minded. Still a broke [censored] compared to most lol -

I have forest green but looks lighter then a dark forest green. I call it money green. I can pull a dollar out and put it against my car and it matches. I have 6 Montes. 2 greens 1 phantom blue, 1 called regent red or burgundy . 1 creme color and my favorite one is Black. Black looks the best. I park my black car next to 100k cars at shows and it looks great. People are drawn to glossy mirror black. I would do green with black top or white since that is what i have lol. Best would be to get rid of the top and keep all one color. do what you want and don't let the money keep you from doing anything. you can't take it with you. This is one girl that won't leave you after you put a ton of time and money into her lol -
Yes I agree. I just had to deal with that problem. It wasn't easy to get trim off and slide back on. Deff. a job for a body shop. If they scratch the paint . they can fix it. My car is a driver older repaint. I had to peel back the top. Then i opened the holes slightly for the barrel nuts to snap in flush. Then i stuck a phillips screw in the holes and layed the vinyl top over the holes and used a carpet cutter to make holes in the vinyl. Then i had to reglue the top. Then the tricky part getting the trim back on. I struggled getting trim to slide back and forth to make trim line up. new clips from parts place we're too tight a fit. Deff. would not pay 55k and no power windows and probably have to pay another who knows what to get those sail emblems on, at a shop around my area. Don't even want to guess. That is why i would not buy another vinyl top car. Either get one from the west coast , or one that has been in the garage all the time. It makes a difference to work on and build your own car. But when you've done it a few times, It's nice to find one all done and just enjoy driving it.

I have the brand U.S. wheel 15x8 inch with 5 inch back space on three of my Montes no problems. One car rubs slightly if I hit a big dip in the road at high speed, maybe bottoms out slightly. I figure i need new springs in that car. I think 275 's rear and 245 fronts look the best and are much needed with a big block car. 255's rear are ok too. with 235's in the front. Bigger rear always gives the car the muscle look. I remember a carcraft magazine years ago and they tested all sizes on a 70 monte. 17 inch wheels made the best handling, If your going with a pro touring setup. Search archives, tons of info

1970 is the most popular. then 66 and 67 years. I have a 67 malibu with ss emblems. Ofcourse it needs body and paint. But it makes for a fun driver. People love to check it out at the gas station lol Along with the Montes

Yeah i've been looking for a chevelle SS on facebook. Ebay is over priced
-
Glad to see I'm not the only one lol. Same green color as mine too. Now i wish mine didn't have the vinyl top. But it was the first local SS car i have seen in years worth buying. Prices keep going up on the SS cars. Its becoming unpractical to spend over 50k for any car.

Thanks for the info guys. Your the best. I don't plan on selling it. i will live with the 72 spear. When we're at a car show the hoods are opened up anyways lol . Lets just keep this a secret lol. I have a extra hood at my friends house. I'll check to see what year it is. learning the hard way again. Too old to sweat the small stuff . Not loosing any sleep over it lol Life is way too short..

Hey everyone, I bought a 70 ss car 3 years ago. I noticed the hood spear was a 72 spear. Now i ordered a 70 repo one from the parts place. I went to install it and two problems. the pins don't quite line up. I could bend them to make them work, but i shouldn't have to. Rethinking i need to get a nos one off ebay. But i realized the emblem doesn't cover the big hole in hood. Small gaps on both sides of new spear .Now I'm thinking this must be a 72 hood installed? One top of that , when someone installed 72 spear , it dug into the paint and left so lines in paint. So question is , 1970 and 71 72 hoods have different big size holes?Pin holes different also? is the repo too narrow to cover the big hole. I'm not going to buy another hood and have painted cause it would cost probably 3k to get correct hood spear on the car. If the nos spear is wider i can live with the lines in the hood where the 72 spear dug in. Any thoughts? I can live with the 72 spear, only a real monte guy is going to know the differnce. I love 72 montes, so i'm ok with it lol i put 70 headlight knob and radio knobs in my 72 because they are much dressier lol so any input would help if someone knows. Jared should know. Mr 60 montes lol

It has been on there for awhile. No power windows or locks. but fully loaded lol, at 55k I would want all options. Getting into Chevelle money there. 40k is a reasonable price. Missing air cleaner and heat riser. No picture of compressor on inner fender. I bet if someone offered 45k it would get sold. The Chevelles are driving up the Monte prices. If only i could hit the lottery and make 55k sound like pocket change lol

Well it looks like a 72 with the trim on the back. I think it is a custom because it looks like there are 6 holes in sail panel area for the MC emblem and the custom emblem. driver side looks like the custom emblem is there just too bury to confirm. I would save my money for a nicer condition car. I have a 72 u code 402 car all original 68k miles in nice driver condition. Would need repaint to be a show car. I'm debating on selling it. but not for 2200 lol ad a extra zero and maybe i might sell it lol

They have the 70 ss on the website. It says sold on website. I typed in their search box monte carlo. It doesn't say it is numbers matching. All the other ads they have say numbers matching. I'm a buyer if number matching at 39k . I have a green 70 ss. i want one with bucket seats. But i have a bad addiction with buying cars. Facebook is dangerous lol.

I use a leaf blower to dry my cars, micro fiber what's left. Then i put towels in the rear quarter where water drips out. I'm getting to old to sweat the small stuff.

Hey Frank ,let us know how it went and if it fixed the problem. Acouple more things to check out. If you get up to 50 mph and let off the pedal and vibration happens, might be idler arm. 35 dollar part and easy to change. Other thought would be makes sure all bolts are tightened down correctly on the front suspension and brakes. Spindle nut for the wheel bearings set correctly. I've have had every kind of bad vibration a guy could encounter lol just nuts and bolts. you will get it fixed

I think your suppose to tighten lugs with car off the ground with after market rims that are lug centric, so they self center. I Haven't used spacer rings with aftermarket wheels. I haven't had problems with vibrations. I have had problems with installers doing sloppy balancing. Wheel weights can come off if not properly mounted. Wheel vintiques and US steel wheels have been good. I would have the front rebalanced. Forget stick on weights. I have had them fly off, because they didn't clean off my wheel good enough, or their we're cheap stick on's. I have asked to have the new and old oem wheels checked for balance and straightness on the balancer before tires are installed, offering to throw installer a extra 20 bucks. Don't go to walmart or pep boys. I had good luck at tires plus and local garages. I like to use OEM wheels for the front. Maybe someone om here might have more info for you on the hub rings and sizes needed.
