Has anyone bought the cowl hood from OPG? I surely wound like to know how it fits.

I saw someone post these photos on Facebook. He ordered it from The Parts Place.

I don't have an opinion on the scoop/bulge yet but the hood itself, lines, bends and shape look really good. Did they mention how the quality is?

I don't think it's long enough but that's my opinion.

On that FB page, I think someone said the cowl itself is the same size as the Chevelle. That being said, the Monte hood is longer so it isn't proportional, looks a little short to me as well.

I like it. Probably close to what GM would have done.

It would be interesting to have some feedback on the fit. The gaps side to side look like they may be acceptable, but it looks like they have the driver's side bumpers up too high in the front.

Just started looking at this hood. I’m ok with the cowl being a lil short, as long as the fit is good.

You can buy this hood at the Parts Place and Jegs. Golden Star makes them.

A friend sent me this from Daytona, I like the hood. He'll be there tomorrow and ask, he said the people he talked to other sites not OPGI are all backordered on their hoods and he doesn't know anyone who has purchased a new one.

Cowl is to high on that one should be a 1 1/2 to 2 inches. I like the length better in the green one.

I agree, way too tall. Length would be good if it was split between the both of them. Then it would look proportional to the long hood, imho.

I agree, its too tall but its a big tire car so who knows what they're hiding under there lol. I think the length is more proportional too, I'm going to venture a guess that its not an off the shelf hood lol.

Yeah, no doubt he probably needs the clearance. Still too long though, unless there's a couple of turbos packed up there in the front 😁. Clean looking car though!

Yep. I took a second look than looked over my right shoulder. Tooooo long. Might be needed on that car though.

The green Monte pictured has a Glastek 4 1/2 bolt on fiberglass hood.  Had one. Wish I still did sometimes.

Evening,

Just put one on my '72.  Have the original fenders and the passenger side didn't align with the body.  Tried and tried to get it to sit level but it wasn't until we put the original hood on and saw the issue with the 2" cowl hood.  The inner support structure was welded to the top skin incorrectly.  Had to drill out the spot welds then align the hood and clip it in place to weld it.  Luckily had some good help but it was a good amount of work I was not expecting.

Pics below you can see where the inner frame and top skin of the hood used to meet.  You can also see where the dip is vs the original fender.

The cowl does look awesome I just don't have a spot to put the "pissers" since they mounted in the original hoods vents.  Beauty over functionality I guess...

Thomas,

You could always use the '70 version of the "pissers" as they mounted at the back edge of the hood instead of through the vents.

Scott.
