If your link has expired on your reservation email, like mine did, just go to ihg.com. You can cancel or modify an existing reservation with only your reservation number and your last name

Thoughts and prayers for all those affected. I feel bad for all those that planned on attending. Tip of the hat to Ron for all the work he put in. Those of us that have experienced mother natures wrath know it's a no win situation.

Thanks for the update. I appreciate all of you.

I was already going to Carlisle so hopefully I’ll see some of you there.

Ron, sorry all of your hard work was for naught brother. Hopefully we’ll meet at next year’s get together.

Patrick.  you had not registered with me for Carlisle so please go to the Carlisle Mini-Meet post  and provide me with the information i need.  Also, please make your hotel reservation right away before we run out of rooms.

Unfortunately going to their website and trying to cancel with your confirmation number is not working for me.  Hopefully my email to the hotel GM and the person who I negotiated our contract with will get mine cancelled.  I sent a list of everyone who had registered with Ron to both of these people to request they cancel every room reservation in our block of rooms.

Like a couple others, the link in the initial email for the room reservation was expired.

After that, I went to their website below, entered the confirmation number and my last name. It opened right up to the details, and on the lower right side is the cancellation box. 'Check' the small box, then hit the Cancel button. Worked good for me, and also gives you a confirmation number and email verification.

As mentioned a few posts above, here is the link to the Carlisle meet in June, with all the details to contact the hotel for reservations, and instructions that Rob listed so he can get the details from you regarding your travel plans, room reservation, etc.

Please, get on this as soon as possible! Even if you're just kicking the idea around in your head right now, get the room reservation ASAP, you can always back out later if necessary.

After getting a little mental rest after yesterday’s events, I would like to say thank you to all of those who assisted in the development of the eastern meet in Somerset. It was a sad day to have to cancel. We worked on the decision all day, and for the safety of our members and these great cars, The decision was made to move this years Eastern meet to Carlisle PA. Some may second guess the decision but reports out of the area affected were and still are sketchy.. Some of the places we were to visit are no longer there , and there is no estimate of when the power will return to this area , although crews have been called in from several states.. some of the areas look like a war zone.but, . The biggest tragedy is, there were lives lost , families separated, and our hearts go out to them. The good news is, for us, we wernt there at the time, and we still have a place to go to have the Eastern Meet. Carlisle PA. This event is in June so you still have time to prepare.. the contact info for this meet is Rob Peters .. plan on going , you will have a great time!!!

A special thanks to Joe Tedesco , CK Collins, Rob Peters , believe me ! We all wrestled with this decision all day . With reports of what we were hearing, and the possibility of no power, and debris still in the area after only a few days, the right decision was made… 🌪️ Ron.

Ron, anyone who second guesses the decision clearly has their head up their butt! I'm sure all conversations were for the best interest of all the club members and their families.

Most of us know although a storm seemingly quickly destroys all it meets, the aftermath is a very time consuming and delicate balance of organized mess.

Again thoughts and prayers for all affected, as well as all the crews coming in to help assist some return to normalcy

Good morning Rob, I didn’t realize I had to do that. I’m going to be straying with my son who lives there. I also won’t have my car. I was planning on kinda floating in and out, mostly just meeting everyone and such. I planned this trip with my son at the beginning of the year mostly to see him and his family and to do the Carlisle swap meet. I actually only found out about the mini-meet a few weeks ago. I’m out of town until tomorrow and will sign up once I’m home. Thanks for the info!

I won post any somerset or London Ky pictures, you can view them for yourself on facebook, instagram, tictok ect. However, I wanted to give you a sense of the power these storms have during a tornado. First reports say it was an F6 tornado, then reported a F 4. With winds up to 260 mph. Strong enough to up root foundations or pick up vehicles, which it did. The following photo was taken yesterday from an airplane, and posted on facebook.. as the storm traveled from somerset east towards London Ky. Stayed on the ground over 2 hours. These are hills and large trees. Typically, hills will slow the spin down but that didn’t happen. It shredded the large trees like paper… IMG_4779.thumb.jpeg.81fe427facd31782d198ca6954860165.jpeg

I want to thank Ron for all of his hard work on this meet.  Yesterday I was talking with Ron and he told me he feels he may have let people down by having to cancel the meet.  I told Ron nobody feels he let him down and the decision was a good one.  As it turns out the decision would have been taken out of his hands and that decision would not have been a result of anyone in our club because at some point on Saturday state and local officials declared the entire area in "A State Of Emergency" which would mean everything would have been cancelled by those officials.

Thanks again to Ron for all he did.  The transition of the Eastern Meet to the Carlisle Mini-Meet is in the process.  Joe, CK, Dennis and I are already on it.  Luckily I had  good tracking documents already in effect for the Mini-Meet in Carlisle.  Not only that, I have heard from a number of members who are attending have already offered their assistance.

Cruise is in downtown Somerset is on as scheduled according to their facebook page. No damage in that area of town.

I feel very let down for Ron. Hopefully his efforts can be still be used Next year for the 2026 Meet.

Unfortunately, that alone, still wouldn't have worked for us as a group.

Even the day we made the decision, the Cruise event coordinator told Ron the few hour cruise was probably still going to happen. The part that affected us as a whole, were the reports our hotel and restaurants we were supposed to attend were damaged, and without power. That, coupled with no communication of any sort with the hotel due to downed lines, and same with the inability to contact neighboring hotels to possibly make alternate plans sealed the deal.

No power for who knows how long, no hotels, no restaurants, and 4 days to try and put something together, and still hope that all the members would even attempt to attend, made it a pretty easy (though painful) decision.

We also had members that were going to leave a few days early, to make side trips on the way to Somerset. We needed to make a decision so they could alter/cancel their plans accordingly.

Ron is keeping the door prizes, goodie bags, etc to use at next year's event, wherever it may be.

Ron was able to get in contact with the hotel finally. They didn't get power until just recently, same with phone service. Superficial damage to the structure, but no food, etc due to the power loss. The gentleman said it was absolutely the right call to cancel the stay, and also hopes that we will be able to do it next year instead. They're more than happy to accommodate us again in the future.

Ron also mentioned the cruise that was supposed to still be happening, is cancelled as well. I think he stated the original intent was to ask people who attended to either bring monetary, or food donations to help with the relief effort, but it's a moot point now. Don't forget, the state declared a 'State of Emergency', which limits activities.

I spoke with another member last night, he mentioned terrible destruction, curfews, and still no power in areas.

Side note, There were a couple outstanding hotel reservations from our members, but as of now, we're all clear.

A little more update of Somerset conditions since I spoke with the host hotel rep and Joe just yesterday..

US 27 the main Hwy to the hotel has just opened with many side roads still closed, like Joe said, the hotel had power restored just recently, and are trying to to recover to receive guest. The rep told me that the cruise downtown had been cancelled but it was the AM cruise to areas in the county. Friday night block party is not a go as of yet due to no power at the location. No rattlesnake run to the Cumberland falls area as well.. as of last night , I still could not connect to anyone at the awards restaurant.. The cruise downtown Saturday may continue but to gain donations for the area..

I posted on Somernites cruise facebook page that FGMCC would not attend, they have been understanding busy and may have forgotten to do ..

Somernites Cruise , mill Springs Battlefield Museum, our host Hotel in the storm hit area, and other locations involved with our visit, have expressed deep regret and understanding of decision not to be in this area as they try to recover and rebuild after this deadly tornado outbreak.. ALL, have asked our club to consider Returning for another visit and stay..

This morning, Thursday, we would have been preparing to go on one of our excursions to take pictures of our Monte Carlo’s at the Cumberland Lake..

Let us turn our attention to the future  and cherish and learn from the past.
There are other FGMCC Meets and mini meets and get togethers together to think about and plan for . Don’t forget about the now Eastern meet this June in Carlisle PA. Rob Peters does an excellent job coordinating this event.. make plans today to go there.. CK Collins the vice president of our club host mini meets in Syracuse, also, there is a joint FGMCC and MCCCNA event  in Fairborn Ohio at the Monte Carlo Nationals the very end of June this year. Callie Anne host this event and the information is posted on our club site under “ events”.. And last but certainly not the least,, “Arron Dodsworth” host the FGMCC in the western United States and Canada.. A fantastically beautiful scenery meet..

Just to let you know, I enjoyed preparing for the Somerset Meet , looking forward to seeing everyone again.. Ron T..

Oh yea for sure.  We had no power for 8 days during Helene.

Im actually surprised they got power back to the hotel after just 5 or 6 days but that's wonderful news for that area

Another BIG PROBLEM is we are to reliant on technology, no power means no Gas we found that out too and then all the hogs show up and fill up 100 gallons to run a generator to watch TV.

There was no good time for this to happen but I been telling everyone We ALL were so blessed to not be there while this happened.  If that comes through tomorrow night its a whole different and possible tragic story and not Just some damaged cars. The tornado missed the hotel by literally feet looking at Google maps.
