Anyone have info on the woodgrain dash bezel insert. I took mine out and want to get it redone. It was rusted pretty bad. I believe these inserts are hydro dipped decals. Also, once they are done how do I get the washer and headlight decals on it.  Where and who can I go to for this. I want it to look OE correct.

Hey Ryan, I dont know where you would get the letters and that is after you restore yours? Did you think of buying a better used one??

Welcome to the club Ryan....

I've seen the lettering done with a printer on adhesive cellophane...... I just can't remember the font style off hand.

They look O.K., but the edges will probably curl over time.

7. But 3 are for 72. I also have several on dashes.

I wonder what it would cost to get a few stencils cut, it would be pretty easy for a sign shop but maybe a Cricut would be able to cut that small too?

What is the difference in the  burl wood bezel between the 72 and the 2 previous years other than the seatbelt warning? Otherwise would they be interchangeable? The reason I ask is because I had thought that warning was exclusive to 72s, but my 71 has at least the seatbelt warning “window”, which led me to believe that maybe the bezel has been replaced because there is no working light or buzzer. Not sure what triggers the warning because my first 71 didn’t have that.

I have seen approx 10 x 1971 with the seat belt warning window. I have 2 very low mileage 71 with the window and i do not believe that the bezel has been changed. In my humble opinion I think some 1971 had the seat belt warning in the dash. I have no proof but having seen so many, I doubt they have all been changed out.

I have also had good results with cleaning the burlwood (careful on the letters) and spraying with Eastwood satin clear. Makes them pop back to new. This one was pretty weathered before I restored it.

Boy that came out nice. I’ve seen so many where that rich warm color is bleached out from the sun. Thanks for the info.

@Dtret, message me with a price for a 72 shipped to 06340 please. I'm on the hunt! A previous PO pulled the wood one out and put in a crappy looking carbon fiber one. I still have it if anyone wants it

Sorry for the late response I have to get better at logging in and checking my messages.  I have so many projects going on and this car is a big one for sure. This is what I need for sure. I bought one and did not look close enough and it has a spot for a deicer is what I found that it is, and my car does not have that. The letters for the washer and lighter would be challenging. I bought hydro dip decal that I think might match but I will not know till it's done. If it comes out good then the next step would be letters which are probably hydro decals of some type also.
