Sorry fellow Monte fans, didn't mean to sound so cold-hearted - just reminded me of the ending scene in the first "Terminator" movie with the hydraulic crusher! Jim
-
Yep - she put a up a good fight but in the end - TERMINATED !
-
Congratulations! Nice car and great history. Reminds me of my first 1970 Monte - triple black with bench seat and 350 - had it from 1974 - 1986 - wonder if that one's still around. Jim
-
Very glad to hear Rob is doing better! Prayers coming your way for a speedy recovery or slow or whatever it takes. Get well soon! Jim

On a 1970 TCS solenoid - the port where the wires attach is for carb vacuum source, on the other side of the solenoid - the port angled upwards goes to the distributor and the other port is for vacuum let off, which on a 1970 attaches to the top rear of the carb port.HTH.

Delco AM/FM Stereo Radio Identification?
Jim Boczar replied to 72-CLASSIC_RIDE's topic in Interior Tech - Archive
Doug, check out this link to 69-72 Delco Radio identification. Delco Radio ID's I have the Sam's Photofact for my 1970 AM/FM 8 track stereo radio and it list part number DS 515 as the output transistors, which may also have been the same ones used in 1969 & 1970 stereo radios. Sam's Photofacts maybe the only source to match the product number with the model number, if you can find the correct one for either year. Sam's usually shows the model number and the product number on their Photofact sheets. You can try your local library for the Sam's sheets or keep an eye out on ebay for them. Jim. Happy Holidays to everyone! -
Delco AM/FM Stereo Radio Identification?

1970 Chevelle, El Camino or Monte Carlo should be #01AFM with a 1 or 2 for the revision number. Full size Chevrolet is #01BFM with a 1 or 2 for the revision number. I am not sure if they fully interchangeable between models - but I believe the stem width measurement is the same between A and B radio models but the center opening in the dash maybe different in size. Bruce - your radio is from a 1973 Buick midsize model car. -
Well James it's time to get excited again, because your award is in the mail and on it's way! You should get it on Wednesday and then you can get excited some more! Oh yeah - you Won! Congrats again! Jim.

Congratulations to everyone - we had a very nice showing of first gen Montes! And a very "special Grand National" - Congrats Willie!

Well I was doing fine driving down from CT until I reached Harrisburg PA at 1:30 pm Thursday and then the rain started. Carlisle got hit pretty good with a bad storm about the same time. As neared the fairgrounds there were alot of tree limbs down in the area. Once it cleared up, I had to do a quick wash and detail on my car before entering building T for the display. There is a 1971 Mulsanne Blue Monte Carlo SS454 with a white vinyl top also on display from the GM collection. See you guys soon.

Rob, pm sent. See you guys there! thanks, Jim

Congratulations to everyone - sounds like it was a great time and great to see some recognition for the first gens!

I am very sorry to hear this and Robyn and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. His comments were always interesting and entertaining and will truly be missed. We are bonded by Monte Carlos, but the people behind them are so much more important. RIP

I was thinking with 2010 being the 40th anniversary of the Monte Carlo that the GM Nationals at Carlisle, PA would be a good venue. They have had the Impala and Camaro anniversaries there and they maybe receptive to having the Monte Carlo anniversary next year. The dates are June 25-27, 2010 and below is a link. GM Nationals 2010

The above number is correct if your car was originally a California car, if not then the correct quadrajet number would be 7040200.

Rob, I also drove my Monte to the Carlisle (FGMCC Eastern Meet) in 2005 and then two weeks after that, I drove to the Super Chevy show in Epping NH! Those two and the recent meet are my longest journeys! Maybe someday the Long Island gang will host a meet for us in Northeast!

I had printed out the mapquest route, but I did start out on the Merrit Parkway to avoid local truck traffic in Waterbury CT. The mapquest total mileage stated 438 miles, but I ended up doing 500 miles. The difference was in the first leg of the journey to Scranton PA being 60 miles more than the mapquest total. So, Jared is still the longest distance driver! I went home on 76 and it was easier and a few less miles. Gas slips added up to $285.00 for the round trip! I have been a member of the National Club for over 10 years and never been to a National Meet, so when it became a joint meet I decided to make the trip. I would have loved to put the Monte on a trailer, but then I would have had to borrow my brother in law's truck and did not want to go that way. The worst part was actually driving my Monte in the rain - never done that before, and the best part was seeing 48 other first gens at one meet! I normally put on alot less then 1,000 miles per year just doing local shows, so I am already over my limit and that was my first show for this year!!

Nice pictures Capri! It was great to finally meet you and the family! Also nice to meet Jared and the other Carl Hanson and to see the Long Island gang again - Steve, Al, Dan and Jim along with Leo, Andreas and everyone else. I watched the odometer turn 57,000 miles around Allentown and averaged 14.5 miles per gallon. Made it home to CT. around 9pm. I had a great time and thanks to everyone!

RichG is correct on the stamping - I realized it after hitting the enter key - Sorry for the confusion.
-
If the VIN is stamped on the pad near the oil filter I believe it would have a leading 13857 for a Monte Carlo or 13637 for a Chevelle.

Have him check the ref#10BFM1 number again. It should be #01BFM1 for a 1970 am fm stereo radio for a full size chevy.

Is this like your Mickey Mouse ears upside down? Try carburetion.com and base gasket. Jim
-
Not too sure about your description of Mickey mouse ears, but if your gasket has two small holes and two large holes, try felpro #60255 for the thick gasket for a qudrajet.

Specific part number is 3871154 for the actuating rod on level control valve. Hope this helps.
