  1. If he has a volt gauge he needs the printed circuit for a gauge dash. Captain Obvious says, it could be just burned out bulbs but it wouldn't hurt to replace the printed circuit while you are doing all this. Old plastic is brittle plastic, fact of life you know. Having said that about plastic, mind how you go with the little screws that hold all the cluster parts together. They screw into molded areas that will be brittle as well so you don't want to force anything when reassembling the cluster. I have lots of experience with dash removal and repair on our cars having done mine several times and other members as well. I have learned that if you put the individual screws back in the exact same location they came from you minimize the chance of breaking the molded plastic areas. Its time consuming to label them all but worth it in the end. None of the replacement parts are an exact, precise match and any NOS stuff is 50 years old and brittle as well.
  2. Don't threaten me with a good time! Seriously, let me look into it.
  3. Im at the Turkey Rod Run every year, and sometimes Jared is there as well but without his car. We have club parking between the tunnel entrance and the garage area. Its always a great time and we normally have a few bbq grills going. I have considered hosting a club mini meet there but I have been told I have to have more than just me attend. I forgot, sometimes Antone comes as well but has yet to bring his car.
  4. That's what I was thinking as well. Just some rear springs and it should eliminate the rubbing tires. Welcome to the site Courtland!
  5. Nuts to that.

    Blue Thunder aka Full Monte

Just some random pics of my car through the years
  7. Some states have done away with the stickers Also, some police vehicles have automatic tag readers installed
  8. having had and hated the custom auto sound system, the 630 if memory serves, I would venture to guess the sound quality lands squarely on that unit. I had a Sony xplod amp in mine so i was able to make it sound somewhat better, but it never was a quality stereo in my opinion. It may be fairly simple to remove that CA 630 because it is significantly smaller than the factory unit and at least check it out using other speakers, or plug something else in, if you have something lying around, and compare the sound quality. The dash is very easy to remove. A few Phillips screws around the instruments and two inside the glove box and it pops right off. Also, do you have sound from both the in dash speakers and the kick panel speakers?
  9. Check it out, i pulled a couple of pics from my scrapbook and posted them on the previous page. Old dog, meet new tricks!
  10. I was 24 when I bought my first brand new car, a 1986 Monte Carlo SS. I was 38 when I picked up the '72. I do have pics of the '72 when I first bought it but they are all 35mm prints that have yet to be digitized. Ill see what I can do about posting them. Here is the car the day after we brought it home
  11. That is how mine gets washed 90% of the time.
  12. I went with M&H Electrical Fabricators for my harnesses. They came with the correct connectors, proper colors, and everything you need to make the process basically plug and play. I was very impressed with both the quality of the product and ease of installation. American Auto Wire is also a great company and I used one of their kits to rewire/upgrade my Ford to a modern style fuse block. Easy but time consuming.
  13. C'mon down!
  14. its barely cracking 90 down here in Florida. 😎
  15. The original photo went away?!?
  16. Just proves that when pitted against a Buick, the Monte will always come out on top!
  17. i fit an electric fan inside my shroud. I want to say its a 15" spal brand, but it may be a 14". I would have to look at the receipts again to know for sure. Works great with the stock clutch fan installed
  18. I did the same thing. Replying first thing after I wake up has never quite been my forte
  19. It would depend upon what you want. To simply spin both tires the 3.55's would certainly do the trick but since you were already doing one wheel burn outs with the 2.73's then you would be able to do the same with the 3.31 gears. Either would suit your needs so the question is do you want lower or higher RPM's driving it. Around town? Highway? My car sports the 3.73 gears and I wish I would have gone with the 3.31's, but I could care less about doing burn outs.
