one of each...maybe every first-gen owner's dream ... a '70 bone stock--- color coded hubcaps, thin whitewalls, maybe even skirts, cloth bench interior, AC a '71 SS triple black beauty- like some on here buckets /console/gauges of course a' 72 stock custom 350 or maybe 402 are 3 even enough in an ideal world? we haven't even got into hardtops, W code customs, 4 speeds etc etc...who am I kidding- the list never ends , and since the Monte can be done up in so many ways -wild to mild-are there ever enough?? -
WOW yes it would be nice to have a " 20 +" to acknowledge our "founding fathers"... like most of us, a humble bunch for sure-but without them ,we might all not still be here... would set them apart and be kinda cool

thats possible.. a quick visual "min thickness" reference... we used to use a primitive guage setup to judge whether we could cut them back in the day -

Wonder what that groove was for? Doesn't look to be for cooling...maybe some sort of air gap between pad and rotor? or an indexing aide during machining? or only purpose is for mechanical minds to wonder about it 50 years later? yes that's what I'm going with (for now) -
usually not a good thing (at least initially) when a mom and pop widget company gets eaten up by" big corp" - either on hostile terms or just by necessity... nothin' beats doing business with a firm handshake and a first name basis...fewer and far between in this seemingly "new world order" we find ourselves in... a few years back when dealing with a bank I've been with for 30 years they looked at me like a stranger with 2 heads ...I said, in my world you'd refinance the loan, shake my hand across a big oak desk, ask me about the family, then share a scotch...he then mused, "I'm with you on that- but you're 100 years too late!"
-
I'd sell the red one and get a bunch shaped like the white one!! I'm with you guys (dare I admit I'm of a certain age where the white one is way more comfortable!!)

What? fuel isn't 54.9 cents a gallon anymore? whoa!
-
oh yes, Aaron made another great point-while you're in there unless the blower motor is absolutely smooth as silk, now's the time to replace...
-
parts place plastic also--just as always with multi-bolt assemblies, put bolts in loose, then one or two holes need to be opened up slightly (step or 'cone' bit works well. the large washers on those bolts more than cover the enlarged holes...as said these cars don't have the tightest tolerances but with a little moving and tweaking they go in fine--and after bout 10 years they still look great!

excellent news!!

she got her wish and you saved your money... looks like a 'win win' from here!

As tongue in cheek annoying as some may find our narrator ( a bit goofy at times but again a nice video) he did one on a '77 white Pontiac Grand Prix-what a beautiful car!! I also really like the previous generation GP (we knew of a silver and black '72 "back in the day"/ what a hot and fast car that was!!) and being in the non-tech forum I can say "Pontiac"? ok cool!! -
im far from an expert and will offer no tech advice (also since you don't need any more with all excellence that's been given) but while we wait for you to change out that booster I'm guessing that vaccuum has somethin to do with it-super hard pedal-like the old non-power brakes---spongy low pedal like Rob said would usually be air in lines/ weak hydraulic component will be an interesting conclusion once you get there

in summary, a nice little video...unlike some of the nonsense we've been told is gospel ,pretty much all the info appears accurate from what the club has provided...and a very nice original example of a first gen-and presented in the mindset of a fellow baby boomer - different times to be sure- he liked the car quite a bit as well...all in all thanks for sharing. now a ? what is that darn air pump doing in there? big block only? my '73 350 had one my '72 350 did not... -
i guess we've all been there with "this ones too long/this ones too short"---but those pics-it doesn't get any better than than that super nice routing!!
-
yes that is one rare and beautiful first gen!! awesome

Classic Car Insurance

Hagerty recently sent me an email-unsolicited-stating "the value of these cars is increasing and they recommended increasing the agreed value by $1,000 - many years ago I requested the figure set at $14,000 (the purchase price plus repairs and upgrades-clearly more than what I feel it would sell for- but fun of this type is not measured in dollars and cents- and she's not for sale ) I would say come up with an agreed value you feel comfortable with, and if they accept it with an acceptable premium everyone wins! (not trying to preach to the choir here-just thinking out loud...) wow if the average monte is valued at $24,000 maybe I have been under a rock for too long... -
as stated, the spring is in the ignition Switch located on the column--I always move thru the positions very slowly and carefully so as to hopeiully not break or bend the little contact points in the switch itself
-
thats good to hear that it was noted and corrected now all the shoppers need do is come to the club store for the 'real deal'

we dodged a massive storm for the 2nd time last one west got slammed\ coast next to nothing...this time the opposite... here, just a half foot each time...but old man winter is not over yet!! and it was fun to run the 'ole snowblower with fluffy light snow and see it fly 20 foot in the air!! seriously ,anyone with massive snow and ice-take it slow-with the shovel and the road...

Hi Steve yes I hope this gets kicked around a bit... sounds like any good info that can be had will benefit us all...

This is a general issue that I could use some guidance on... small block-- iron block, iron heads, aluminum intake--all oem..the corners of the intake corroded and leaked... sounds like it happens over time with the dissimiliar metals... what is the best coolant/additive, coolant /water ratio ,etc to minimize intake disintegration? also are rad caps with sacrificial anode a thought?? thx for any help!! Brian
