  1. Interesting original. No sure about the colour.....
  2. Up here we used to have (and I believe they tried to resurrect them) Zeller's and Woolco stores.... Had in house restaurants, and up until the final few years, the fries and gravy always caught your attention.
  3. See "ATTENTION K-MART SHOPPERS".
  4. I believe that there's a hole in the '71 for the "gunsight" spring that isn't in the '70.
  5. Did he ever get it back ??
  6. And not a speed trap in sight !!!
  7. I wasn't dissing the skirts...... Just noting that large (or any) parking lots are a free for all regarding dents, and home to the much feared "shopping cart"
  8. Thought I'd toss in a few photos to get you started. Top ones are of the tool used to set the length of the push rod in between the booster and master cylinder. You may have noticed the hex end is adjustable. It was interesting how much it being out can change the feel of the pedal. Second pic is just to have handy when you're putting everything together. As for the feel, that's a big difference compared to newer cars, takes a little adjustment (and leg strength..lol) When I redid mine, I went with steel braided lines, less hose flex and longer lifespan. Old/rubber hoses tend to swell when pressurized. Engine vacuum (higher cam lift) can also weaken the booster assist. And keep in mind the little port in between the tanks in the master cylinder. If the rear system is leaking, it will draw front the front. There are members that have gone to upgraded systems with much success, and depending on which route you want to go, there are lots of people here that can help you with anything you may need...... I'm sure more will be chiming in soon. Best of luck, Scott.
  9. Hey guys, Welcome to the site. Looks like you've got a great car to start with. Best of luck, I'm sure you'll find everything you ever wanted to know here. Scott.
  10. Well...... It is in a K-Mart parking lot.
  11. I don't think a small block ever makes the torque that a big block can.... It'll get the horses, but the actual torque fades as you hit the higher RPM's. Decades ago I had a buddy that poured a ton of money and time into a small block, but could never get what he was looking for out of it. Swore up and down that he'd go with a big block next time.
  12. Exactly what my aunt used hers for..... But that's where I got first exposure to them.
  13. It's funny.... As a kid back then, the general opinion was that Monte Carlos were big boats that didn't qualify as "muscle cars". More of a Cadillac than a Chevelle. But these days, and seeing that I'm not the only "big boned" guy who likes them, they don't appear that big anymore. I've actually compared them to the last gen Montes, and they have pretty much the same tire footprint, width, and weight..... Just a little more hanging out the front. Makes working under the hood a different adventure.
  14. Saw this photo on one of those history shows the other night.... Thought I'd share. Looks a little rough considering the photo is circa 1975.
  15. I'm still using Windows 7 on my laptop, so the slow speed is normal for me. It's the error messages and connection shut downs that are new.
  16. Watering my lawn/trees is a good way to hang out with the neighbours.
  17. It's a clean, straight, gorgeous Monte. I've always liked the crossed flag displacement badges...... But if I were to ever go that route, 427 would be my personal preference.
  18. For the RPM's you're planning to turn, a roller cam is probably the safer bet..... By the time you're done, you'll be able to swap a cam in your sleep.
  19. Just got an error message saying the site was unavailable, try again later. Cleared up when I went back a couple windows. ????
  20. I'm with you on the door panels..... The '71-'72's with the buttons just seem wrong to me. That's why I'm partial to the '70. Beautiful work... Great results.
  21. Cute Metro.... I remember finding one in a local wrecking yard back in the early '80's..... But the guy wouldn't sell it.
  22. The three stages of frostbite.... If it's pink, it'll recover, Red means it's not going to fix itself, And black means it's probably going to fall off.
  23. First one's an interesting colour...... Kind of the same as a buddy's '72 Duster, but with dark green vinyl.
  24. I got shut down last week, had to re-sign in during a visit.
