I asked Dennis to get pictures of his 72 car which is an unrestored survivor. He had the jute to the truck sheet metal so that is why I did mine that way. I would also point out the package tray has the jute toward the metal, so it makes sense to me. I know many people like the black to the truck for looks so certainly that is an acceptable install as well.

So I put the cardboard card and jute insulation in behind the seat. I used spray adhesive 3m 77 to attach the jute. I attached the jute on the smooth side of the cardboard, such that the scored side was exposed. Installed so the cardboard goes against the seat back. The jute is between the cardboard and the steel trunk. Here are some photos. I have heard people put the jute on the seat side. I like the results from my approach. Note I used two of the oval scores to cut out and hang the board on the 2 steel clips that protruded into the back cabin from the trunk. Seems to be the right way to hang the board.

Thank you for the pointers. Good info. I will check it out. I did get new speakers for the radio but probably won't hear it over the sweet new stainless exhaust.

Thank you. Just put the dash back in, new bulbs and everything is working. Seats are at upholstery shop.

Working on my interior. I bought retro pops sound deadening tar sheets. Only needed the piece for under the rear seat. The white side goes down per retropops. That is not clear in the instructions. The nee carpet is from ACC. I chide to add an extra jute layer which is thin but works perfect with the jute that is already on the ACC carpet. Not done yet but wanted to share some progress photos

Had to eat a whole box for the cardboard template

None at all. I kept them horizontally flush and the pad kinda curves up underneath. You do need to watch how you do the brackets to allow the dash clips inner the windshield not to interfere during install and removal of the pad

I read a number of entries on front MC speakers. I just fabricated my own and thought I would share. I used 22 gauge steel. I think if I had to do this again I might opt for 18 gauge. However with the bends and speakers mounted the 22 seems fine. Here are some photos. Used a twinkle box to make a template. Speakers are 3.5 inch Infinity frome Crutchfield. Don't judge my welding it's not pretty but it works to hold the nuts in place.

How did you determine to do it this way. I wonder how Dennis’s 72 is.

2025 FGMCC EASTERN MEET Relocated To Carlisle PA..
Auburn852 replied to RON T's topic in FGMCC Annual Eastern Meet
I would say that Dennis car was the most important car on the field. I was able to look and find out how thar car was originally. One important thing I was looking at was how GM painted the black on the rocker panel and through the door jam. Many overlook this detail unless you have a black car, lol. I would like to get ahold of Dennis I have a couple questions on his car if anyone can point me on how to contact him. -
MC group, this is my first tech share. I found my heater box had a broken clip that activates the diversion door via the cable. It turns out this is a common failure as the clip is plastic. There is a billet replacement I found on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C61L7PTR?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Here are some photos of the broken plastic and the metal replacement

I'm an electrical guy. The harness is pretty good. The previous owner messed up the factory radio harness so I pulled that out as I am installing a retro radio so will have a new harness for that. I did purchase a new courtesy light harness as this one had a funky splice and one of the sockets was buggered up. More to come

New member Michael here. I have had my Monte since 1986. I'm working on a full refresh. Was delighted to meet folks at the Eastern Carlisle meet.

I'm a bit confused. Is the insulation supposed to go between the black board and the seat back. Or between the black board and the truck steel so you see it through the trunk holes. Please help
