Front bucket black inner seat belts - found
420ponies replied to 72 Monte Carlo's topic in Cars and Parts For Sale/Wanted
Isn't it nice when we spend someone else's money? I'm the type that buys once, loses it (no where to be found), go buy another, then find it 2 weeks later!...... must be that old thing happening again.🤔 -
Don't get it. SS without gauge package? Plus the wrong hood spear. Sure it's nice, I'd spend the money just because of the Black paint, then add A/C to it.

With this style of racing , you can trailer your car to the 1st drag strip. Then you can test and tune for 1 day, start the next day racing, and get your best E.T. of that day(all heads up).Even if you break the beam you can start over(saw that many times). After that, you then change over to street mode, drive to the next track ( I believe there are 2 check points, just a picture of your car at the check point), then you can take any route to the next track for the next day of racing. Like , I went to the 2nd day of racing and some only did 1 time down the track, others tried multiple times to better their E.T. Looks like a good time if nothing breaks. They have pull behind trailers with everything they think they need for the week. Plus they have Summit, that brings parts if they need them or even fans can bring them parts if needed. The racers help each other out is what I like about it. If you survive the week, you've won!

What about Wildfire Lifts? seem to be a nice lift with a sliding jack. DDspeed shop uses one on there youtube channel. Check it out.

We went to Numidia Dragstrip yesterday for a day of racing. Saw two bad crashes, both drivers are ok, cars not so much. We were on the side that the '55 got crossed up on and saw the whole ordeal. Lots of cars there, I think the D class had the most participant's .Someone told me over 400 cars started out on Monday. That Green Monte did not show up(darn it),and Jeff Lutz was out early Monday.Had a great time checking everything out. If one of these are close to you ,go and check it out. This was a good 2 hrs from me, would do it again. Maybe next year get to take the Monte, and see what I can break! Did not see that Monte there Mark, must have excited out of competition?

Now that is beautiful ! Things that I like ,and some leave me wondering. I will tell you this.... there will be a lot of questions about this build. I just hope you get to enjoy your time with it. I've had mine for 25 yrs and never, ever miss a beat. Sure it's gone through some upgrades( a lot the past 4 yrs), but with each of us, searching for the vision we seek with each build . I believe you nailed it !! After all of your work , go and enjoy it, you deserve it ! So, the question is ? Are we going to see it on tour some where, in a magazine shoot, maybe at the Syracuse National's next year( July 17-19 ?) with our group? Now that would be nice to see there for sure. We also have our Eastern Meet in Carlisle Pa., (June 19-21?) . Like I said, BEA-utiful !!

I'm using those on my BBC this time. These are the Motion finned valve covers w/spacers. so there are an upper and lower, both silicone with steel core. No issues of yet. I was going to use cork, but decided to give these a try

Man, I guess 3rd time is the charm. Hate to say it, but once it's cracked, no coming back . This time it should be alright.Get the block magna fluxed Before you buy it though(take no chances),and remember, if the price is too good to be true, walk away.I'd find a hydraulic roller close to the specs as the flat tappet you had. That was a good build you did. -
I'll probably invest in a couple of shirts. At least I'm in it to win it! Pretty nice story on the truck.

This is going to be long. Don't fall asleep! So, Went to a great car show/race this past weekend(Watkins Glen International Raceway). Took my just turned 7, grandson to watch these race cars go on the old, thru town road course Friday night. Had great time, they had a special race within that race, Ragtime Racers! what a fantastic group of racers. 2 of the cars came from Corky's collection (Coker Tire). Saturday was the show and with your admission, you get 3 parade(fast) laps, around the road course(Watkins Glen international),while showing your car all day. They only give out 3 awards, lost mine to a '85 Monte Carlo SS, oh well. Nice to see all the classics, Porsche, MG,Triumph,Austin Healey,Aston Martins, Pantera's, etc. .The marque car for this year was the Porsche. Next year, it will be Firebirds and Camaros. The last time they were the marque cars, there were a couple of hundred of them there. Anyway, As everyone was out looking at cars, A gentleman approached me and asked if my car had an Q-jet carb. I told him no, there is a Holley on it for now and going to go with fuel injection soon. He told me he has a '80's Corvette with a Q-jet on it ,and it runs terrible. I remember a post on here that was talking about someone who rebuilds these, could not find it so I posted a request of who does these rebuilds. I assured him that I would find out who and where, and get back to him on it. Dret (Dennis), told me that there is a place in Ohio that rebuilds these carburetors. Cliff's HighPerformance. com is the place . Located in Mt Vernon, Ohio. I called him back and let him know I had the info. He was very happy that I called him back about this. Usually, you get to talk with many people and the conversations get lost with all that goes on at this car show. I'm just glad he picked up the phone when I called, hate cold calling someone. Like I said, he was very appreciative of me getting back with him. I told him if all is good with it, he should drive it up for the show!

I have been trying to find the post with the rebuilder's name and I can't find it. I have a friend with a corvette that would like to keep the original carburetor with the car. any info. is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Detroit News ,Royal Oak, Campbell rd (near 11 mile), lots of papers,(Sundays were the worst), worked 3 routes 1yr, Christmas was nice !! shoveled snow (lots of it then, remember '77 ?), hard work to buy my 1st motorcycle (1978 ,175 Yamaha Enduro) .

I'd say the best is going to my 1st Monte Meet (2010?), and just having a great time with all the friendly people I met. That's why I always go back! It's going to be hard to get rid of !!

Oops! just caught that. Good eye Dennis!

I have always used just a stud with washer and bolt. Never liked the hand style twisties. ARP has those valve cover studs. Could it be between the intake and head gasket on the back rail ? have seen them seep oil out of there. Can't see an aluminum billet/cast cover leaking. I do use a cork gasket, 3m trim adhesive on valve cover, white lithium cream on gasket to head (thin coat),helps soften the cork ,so it forms a rail on the gasket. Hope this helps. -
Look right to me. It's been a long time since I installed mine ,but yes 1 bolt to fender and 1 bolt to inner fender.

Did you ever find out what the noise was?

Rocker trim possibly fender as well with clips
420ponies replied to jbird72's topic in Cars and Parts For Sale/Wanted
I'm sure you are referring to the stainless trim from the lower front fender to the rear quarter. They are screwed in at each end, with clips along the rest of the trim panel. They do sell kits, but if you want originals , someone here might have what you need. Leo Konink, Jared Richey, or Dennis Tret are the one that come to mind. Give them a shout and see what they can do. I'm in need of those lower pieces myself, but I won't go original because, here in the great state of western N.Y., those tend to get beaten up badly with the roads around here! -
Mine is incorrect. Didn't notice until I went to my 1st Monte Meet (2010?), oh well ,it still looks great. I use Bees Wax in a spray can, let it soak for about 10 minutes, then wipe it down. Once a month, until it's off the road for the year.(notice I didn't use the "W" word).🙂

What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?
420ponies replied to Canuck's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
It's going to be a totally different ride. Even with the stock A- arms, much tighter in the turns, firmer at the steering wheel, how it's suppose to be!! -
