  1. You do fine work. As sloppy as the old mounts where, I bet 3/16 of an inch here or there will not make a difference. Especially since the mounds rot and age-out after 20 years regardless of being garaged or driven. It's and ozone thing. We only had about 4 mounts holding the frame on while she was driving it daily. I have to keep reminding myself. It only took 'em 40-minutes to put it together the first time!
  2. Hi Dennis, on the back of the frame I took 3/16' plates to a tool shop and had them punch the holes out and fixed all the holes I had access to. I did not have access to the front of the frame until now. And fortunately Chevy Restoration World had the repair washers for $2.50ea. I stick welded as I wanted the top and bottom smooth so the bushings would sit square. I have the same concern about the body alignment as well. Chevy has a hole for alignment pins. I may have to wait until I get the body mounts welded on before I fix the frame or when the mounts do come in align the hole in the frame before I weld the mounts to the body. And I was thinking the same as you... if I replace all the "washers" and mounted on top, all the mounts would be elevated. Since I only have these 4 + one I am committed to flush. Thank you for the input... Ears are open if you have any ideas. Stay Safe, Brad
  3. It "fell off"! Silly me I thought I was going to repair it... FYI, both sides have been on back order since March. Considering the work it would be to repair, $160 for the pair is reasonable. Onto the frame in while we wait. It started with a little inspection hole! ☺️ ught
  4. A lot of work and time... looks great.
  5. Looks fantastic. Your not alone on the A/C, I saw a fellow purchase an A6 compressor this afternoon at the Springfield Car and Parts swap meet this afternoon. Great turnout at the Fairgrounds, lot of people going back to the car with their arms full. Well, except one dude... he had a trailer on the pack of his power chair! Admission was only $10 this time. I wonder if it was because it is Friday and Saturday only? Regardless, she looks good Andrew. Thank you for sharing.
  6. did you have to bust-up the old floor?
  7. Very nice Bob... so that is what they look like on the frame... πŸ˜€
  8. Speaking of Trailer hitches... someone on this site has a wonderful custom build, High and tight.
  9. Wonderful, I will keep an eye out for pictures... Thank you.
  10. Well I have an update. Fortunately, I live close to Chevrolet Restoration World (Web site sucks, prices are better than OPGI and no shipping cost. Chevy restoration World I took the OPGI photo in the store and he advised the is not the correct part. The part OPGI list is about half the size we need. According to Restoration World the correct part is: A732658 and it is a convertible part. Interestingly, the Monte Assembly manual has a deleted out option for a convertible. Locally at the Gathering of the Geezers in August, Kil Kare dragway, Xenia Ohio, there is one fellow that converted his 72' to a convertible and it looks sharp... There are quite a few convertible conversions out there. The correct part is available in a pair for about $160 out the door, special order. No Willie, I have not contact our members though Konik's Klassiks is on my list. Short of that, I replaced a 200amp service panel for someone and the metal from the old box appears the same thickness. I'm going to look hard. Maybe if I open the firewall floor pan I can access the area. Inspection holes next The correct part #A732658 I'll reach out to those fellows as well. Thank you Willie. Stay Safe, Brad
  11. Thank you for sharing Rob. The dash looks sharp... and thank goodness for the happy accident so you could test before installation. Reports like this keep me going. Stay Safe. Brad
  12. It started with a little hole.... OK, I knew the Right side Body Mount, Front Firewall needed some lovin'. I was going to wait until I took it back off the frame the last time... Now may address this first. The problem is the part itself. OPGI only sells them in pairs and I only need one. On top of that, they only sell for Chevelle Link to part Not an exact match for Monte Carlo as the additional mount location is not included. OPGI says it is for 72 monte and then not. From the pictures the best I can tell, I'll just have to add a caged nut? Thoughts? One of the comments mention only one mount was usable as it is a chevelle mount. Rather that drill out all the spot welds, I was thinking about just cutting the lower part I needed and weld that to the solid part of the old mount, slice it in half sorta-speak. Opinions encouraged. Thank you, Brad
  13. Rob, was this a replacement tank with a funky fuel sending unit?
  14. You folks have inspired me... Since the firewall was stripped. How about a little more rust removal and pretty up the brake pedal/master cylinder mount.
  15. I am gonna guess something like this! πŸ˜€ Mine was soaked in an electrolyte solution with a battery charger for about 4 hours to remove the rust before painting.
  16. Like eating an elephant... one bite at a time... Looks good. If you have more information about the paint to share that would be lovely as the only replacement I have found is the eastwood underhood black another FGMC fan shared with me.
  17. Hello McCall72, how much head room do you have under the car when it is elevated. I been thinking about storing on a similar lift so I have the garage floor space in the winter? Thank you, Brad
  18. I got a whole 2 hours in yesterday. I caved, stripped the firewall inside. Wire wheeled the insulation glue off getting ready sound deadening so I can put the heater/AC box back in
  19. Clearing the workspace. New doors hung. Boxing up the the old ones protecting the glass until time to install in the new doors. Does anyone have a recommendation around the midwest that I may have the new doors dipped and e-coated? Thank you, Brad
  20. Beautiful! I am finally coming to realize the folks that have their car finished and driving cannot stand storing the car for winter... and the rest of us with our cars spread all over the garage can't wait until winter to get to work! πŸ˜„ Happy Thanksgiving.
