  1. Wonderful... thank you very much... will get on it... Brad Thank you jft69z, Leo had some salvaged connectors on the shelf... he's shipping it out this week. I so appreciate the new resource. Stay Safe. Brad
  2. Not laughing... already had that thought! Brilliant!
  3. GM OEM Part: 3909049. The bracket connector to the Cowl Vent Actuator. It appears to be some type of pot metal. The whole assembly is on backorder over a year. I only need the bracket. Someone out there has to be making the bracket for the supply houses. Please advise. Thank you.
  4. Lines are color coded if they get mixed up. 72 Monte Vacuum diagram heater box.pdf
  5. I am in the process of refurbishing my heater box on the workbench. Parts are limited. The box appears to originally had open-cell foam on the defrost door as well as a strip on the blend door. None of the gasket kits I have found include the replacement form. I chose to take the gasket kit closed-cell cut out and use it on the defrost door. I just used the same staples that held the original. I took the evaporator and heater core to a local radiator ship. Both were flushed clean and pressure tested. Original brass heater core and A/C evaporator. I did find a lot of debre in the heater box so it was worth cleaning out. Good Luck! Brad
  6. Well it took a while, ready to assemble when i can figure out the type of and replacement ofthe foam insulater on the defrost door as well as the strip on the blend door. lowes and Rural King had some interesting products, closed silicon foam however, at 3/8" wide it will not work for the defrost door. I amopen to suggestions, thank you.
  7. I hear you. Same here, was too far gone. the wife reminding me it was worth 20 cents a pound didnt help... none the lest brother, were going for the gold... Route 66, end to end! Stay safe
  8. The haynes advised to collapse? I just took mine out to have a new boot installed and the shop advised me not to break the plastic rivets as they are designed to let it column collapse during an impact. I just primed the shaft. You can see the plastic rivets he advised about in the second picture. I had disconnected the shaft at the rag link first and then pulled off the steering column. I did not have headers in the way. Could you just cable down the right motor mount to keep the engine from flexing into the steering shaft? Good luck, stay safe, Brad
  9. Why did pulling with it make you uncomfortable?
  10. Thank you Dennis, please. I cannot figure out how you opened up the full case? Most of my louver seals are in good shape. The one for the defrost door, not so good. How did you get into that part of the case? Apparently there are a few pop rivets that need drilled out... other than that. it is not budging. Please advise. Thank you, Brad
  11. Brilliant. He even thought to allow space for he bumper -jack! Thank you.
  12. Thank you for sharing... I just sent the evaporator and condensor out for flush. Thank you for your heater box photographs. Today is the day, going to pull ours for referb. I hope it is at lease half as nice as your work. Fortunately I have Chevrolet Restoration World in my back yard in Dayton, OH so parts are just up the street. Stay Safe. Brad Note the sand in the air duct has been in there since the late 70s when my wife lived in Florida.
  13. Hello Bruce, I believe it was mentioned before to avoid the original bumper-hitch. Not so much if your load is light as much as protecting the rear of the car from a collision. I have one more time off the frame and I plan on boxing in the frame (kits available from OPG) and tucking a custom receiver hitch behind the bumper. My motorcycle days are done, planning on using the Monte as chase vehicle with repair trailer on group trips.
