  1. I had the exact same thing happen last weekend. When I jumped the car it started right up. The prior owner had put on a fuse in place of the fusible linkIand the wire connection ant the cable was a bit flakey. I replaced the positive cable, fusible link and have ordered a new negative cable. I hope that fixes my problem. One question I have is what should the amp guage read when running?
  2. Replaced the rear coil springs tonight with a pair of moog 5379. It went much easier than I thought it would. The stance is so much better..
  3. opps, 1 3/32" OD, good catch
  4. The Chevrolet parts catalog shows the pilot bearing PN# 3752487, 19/32 ID x 19/32 OD x 3/4"
  5. My 1970 SS came with a green wheel and green column....
  6. Looks great, the motor looks like a piece of jewelry!!
  7. My car has the carpet on top.
  8. Thanks Bob, I will give that a try
  9. That makes sense Bob, i put a bike pump on the lime and just pumped it a few times, low pressure. So if I put a vacuum pump on the line, should it hold steady pressure.
  10. Another air ride compressor question, does the vacuum line from the engine push air to the compressor or suck air from the compressor? It sounds like a dumb question but I pumped air pressure to the manual valve and the rear valve and shocks seem to work fine. I the tried to pump air into the compressor and it seems to come out the vent or overflow. I'm not sure how to make sure the compressor isn't leaking. Any help would be great. Thanks
  11. Great to hear. Happy to help.
  12. Carl, the Cable for a 3 speed with heavy duty or 4 speed is PN# 6478178, 72" long. The cable for a 3 speed (exe HD) is the same PN# 6478175, 60" long. These are the listings in the parts catalog for a Chevelle. I don't think a 3 speed was put in a Monte. I hope that helps
  13. Did you find the code on the block?? I would think someone with a 70 SS would want a correctly stamped engine.
  14. The parts catalog that I have shows 6478175 as the GM part number and 60" long. Without Cruise control.
  15. The straps are attached to the trim panel. Take the trim panel off and there are 2 more screws
  16. Sam, I reset the mixture screws and reset the idle, runs great. The prior owner must of done the 1 1/2 turns. I will still be checking the timing, thanks
  17. The CRN stamping is on the right side front of the block. You should be able to see it with out removing anything. Good Luck
  18. If the wrong PCV valve is used, can it cause the car to idle improperly? The car came with the wrong valve in it (CV682C). I ordered a CV736C which should be the correct valve. When my car comes off of high idle after I start it, the car seems to want to die at stops. If I drop it into neutral it runs fine. Any ideas????
