  1. Can't you pull the belt out or the sleeve and turn it around? I think the belt is only switched to the plastic. Check it out and let us know.
  2. I have always used the AC Delco Long filters PF35, PF35L and PF1218. You need to add a little more oil but the filter will hang lower and it makes it much easier to remove. Yes always fill the filter with oil and oil the rubber gasket. Also buy a oil filter cap wrench. Advance Auto sells the better ones that are made of steel. The wrench fits the bottom of the filter and you use a socket wrench to turn the filter. Works every time.
  3. Can anyone give me the part numbers for thes Timken Bearings? I have a 1971 Elcamino rear in my Monte. It's a 10 bolt with 3:31 gears. I pretty sure it would be the same Seals and axle bearings. This is what I need. Timken part numbers or National. Rear axle oil seals Rear axle bearings Front Spindle seal Front inner bearing Front outer bearing Other brands will also be OK. Thanks, Carl
  4. I'm amazed. I have strip many Monte Carlos and never came across that method. That is a great idea.
  5. I think you should remove the trunk lock. That will allow you more room to install the self tapping nuts. I would do them on the emblem in your hand, take them off, stick the emblem in the three holes and reinstall the nuts.
  6. www.dixiemontecarlo.com Part #DA10222 $49.99
  7. You can replace the whole latch if needed. NPD has it, the number is C-8083-107A. Price $48.95. It's a Chevelle part but it's the same for a Monte. www.nationalpartsdepot.com Sounds like you spring was real weak. Carl
  8. Thats correct Tony. I don't need a set. Carl
  9. Leo is right. You can also buy them new from AMK.
  10. Jared did Metro ever release those L&R L pcs that attach to the rear tailight extensions? CaRL hANSON
  11. I'm all set. I bought my set a couple of years ago. Thanks for organizing the buy. Carl
  12. Yes. You can adjust that. Loosen up the three bolts in the triangle of the hood latch, just a little. Make that work first. Then take a big screw driver and tighten the cone that first enters lower catch. A little at a time. That will put tension on the spring. It's that spring that pops your hood open and not so much the rear hood springs. Granted the rear spring should be good. If you want to change the rear hood springs I have the correct part number. I always recommend 1970 springs. Be careful lubing the hinges because your hood might not stay up. Go slow because if you go too far the hood might not want to open. Hope that helps. Sorry on how I explained that. Thats the best I can do. Good Luck.
  13. Hows your foaming at the radiator neck doing. We all would really like to know. Hope it's fixed.
  14. Got Pictures? We love pictures. Im sent you a PM.
  15. At this point I would play with the timing. You said you changed the intake manifold. The Dist. was out and reinstalled. I would try that. Don't go by OEM Specs. now because of the changes. A Vaccum gage will help you and your hearing. Good Luck.
  16. Do you have disc brakes on the front or brake drums????
  17. Dito Dito Darren.
  18. The glass is set like a new car. There is a 69 Camaro that was in Super Chevy and I also saw it at a Classic Chevy show in FL. Real sweet.
  19. All the bulbs work. I did test each bulb in the holders. I think once I install it into the dash with all the grounds hooked up it will work. I did a 70 Chevelle cluster a few years ago and it worked okay. Just don't remember like I used to. Here is a little trick in how to get a 12 volt battery. Take two 6V dry cells. Run a wire from - to + and you will have 12V. Then when you need to test with 12V just run off the other - and + Also the circuit board is new. The bulbs are L168 Carl
  20. Don't feel dum. I could not figure it out myself. I think it's made wrong.
  21. I have my round gauge cluster completed. It is not in the car. I can get the gauge lights to come on to clock, speedo and tach. This is using a ground to the metal case and a positive to 12V. This is at #2 Gray wire on the connector. I can't get the fuel, temp and amp lights to come on through that gray wire. The socket and bulbs are all new and if I jump those in question they do come on. These gauges are OEM and have always been in my Monte. And no I did not use LEDS. I keep looking at our traffic lights and seeing so many are blown out. I just don't trust them.
  22. I bought my set. Tom is very helpful. Carl
  23. I did mine over 20 years ago with Sems black satin. Its been on since.
  24. I know what your problem is with that gap. I just looked at your build pictures and I think you used the metal top rails from a 71-72 panel. You would need the metal rails from a 70 Monte to match your 70 panel upholstery. The door metals are the same. Leo might have used ones. I don't think any one makes them to sell. They do come on the assembled door and rear panels. Try to look at some images on line showing those panels for all three years. Carl
  25. Summit Racing should have them Spend over a hundred and shipping is free.Summit sells Wheel Vintiques and they are Argent Silver powder coated.
