@cny first gen 71, "package tray", right on. I knew that, just couldn't recall. And that's definitely something like the route I'm headed down.

@Scott S., hahah oh man. I would rightfully be banned from the club if I paneled the exterior. I suppose someone with enough design and creativity could come up with some cool way to do that. But not me! I would never have the balls.

And thanks for the atta boy on the door panels. Honestly, they look WAY BETTER in person, as nice as they look in the photos.

And will probably last longer and are easier to keep clean. ;)

When I did my first Monte, I used 1/8 Masonite and covered it with the same vinyl as the seats. I also did a vinyl covered 5/16x3/4 strip that butt up against the upper seat back. I think if you go with the stained wood, you may be surprised how fast the sun bleaches all the color out of it.

I stand corrected. I DO in fact have the Package Tray that came with my 72!!!!! It was in the back seat, under the rear glass and some other parts that I had forgotten I threw back there.

It's definitely a 3-piece custom Package Tray built by a PO. But they did a really good job! Good enough that it's fully reusable anyway. It has some 7in round Alpine speakers that I had also forgotten about. I guess I could have saved myself $100 and not bought the 6x9s from Crutchfield. Oh well. I had to get the scroll saw out and cut some ovals for the 6x9s.

But man, nothing takes you back to your teenage years like putting a custom package tray and some fresh 6x9s into a 72 Monte Carlo!!! What a moment in time! :)
