Hello All, Second time owner.  First was a 70 back in the late 1990’s and just recently picked up a 72 roller that’s is pretty well stripped but already has some new metal. She’s got a long way to go!

Ben, congrats on your purchase.  We hope you like what you see here on the site and decide to become a full fledged dues paying member.  There is a ton of information here on the site and the most knowledgeable people regarding First Gen Monte's.  Dennis and several other members are great part sources.

Welcome to the best FGMCC!! I see that '72 looks pretty good from the side picture. I hope that as you get after it we do see more pictures of the restoration. What's your plan? restomod or just a solid driver ? Does this one have options on it (buckets, tilt wheel, power windows ) . Is it a "Custom" ?

@420ponies

Thank you! For sure, as things progress I’ll be posting pictures.  It’s going to be slow going to start but, I’m planning on it being a restomod.  It’s already had inner/outer quarters replaced and the floor pans.  Trunk needs some more but I don’t think it will be a full replacement of course that may change once I start opening it up.  Body was already removed and frame cleaned up/sealed but has been sitting outside for about 7-8 years.

I’m not sure if it was a custom or not yet.  The rear seat is still in it so I’m hopeful I’ll find a build sheet but that may be wishful thinking!  No electric windows and column has been replaced so I’m not sure if it had buckets or bench since the floor doesn’t have the brackets or hole drilled for the cable.  It will have buckets and the horseshoe shifter since I loved that setup in my 70.  It was a 350 2 barrel car so I’m assuming they didn’t go with a custom but that’s speculation at this point.

You could get the Custom with any engine combination, including 350 2bbl. My first Custom was that way. The build sheet on that car was on the gas tank.

Your cowl trim tag would say if the car was a bench/bucket seat car, but from what you're saying, the other tell-tale signs are not there either.
