Thanks I will try there. And yes it is. The 71 is one of my all-time favorite cars. I saw one of my old posts about this car on this Fourm and the date was 2012. Been chasing this car for 3 years.
Thanks Joe
Also do you guys know of any issues I might run into if I bring my original gas tank to my radiator shop to have it boiled out. Will I have to put a sealer in it after or should it be fine.
Joe
As you guys can see the car had a fender bender in the front. I don't know if the rad support was changed or not. So I was wondering if one of these super sports could have come from the factory with a big block, air conditioning and a three core radiator or if someone switched out the radiator
Can I ask what did these cars come with from the factory 3 core or 4 core. I have a Harrison 3 core in the car but it seems kinda small. Any input would be great.

Well after 13 years of hibernation the Monte lives again. Started up no problem held oil pressure and not a whisper in the motor. However she definitely needs a new wiring harness from the firewall out.
Oh I have no doubt that it's an SS. Upon further inspection it looks like the cruise was dealer installed. Wiring comes through a hole in the firewall and not part of the original harness.
It is probably a dealer installed unit because all numbers and dates match on the whole driveline with the build date of the car and it's Vin number plus part of the leveling system is still on the car along with the shock protectors
Rob
Thanks alot. Will have to check those areas out. Can't wait to get her ready for next spring. I will keep pictures coming. Is there any members that are rebuild g- restoring the self leveling systems on these cars. I have my compressor and the valve but that's about it except for the shock protectors
Yep. I have loved these cars since I was a kid. My Uncle bought brand new in 71 a triple black monte 4 speed small block with air. He is no longer here but his daughter has the car unfortunately there is nothing left of it but I am trying to aquire it. The motor has never been out of that car. Back to my SS. It is a Baltimore car but the build sheet seems to be eluding me. Any ideas guys. Not on top of the tank or in the seats or the door panels and the previous owner said it's not behind the glove box.
Just picked up this Monte on the weekend. She is completely matching numbers motor, trans, and rear. And loaded ps,pb,pw,tilt,a/c,rear defrost, cruise control, washer monitor
Understood. This is not my first frame off. You try to buy the best car you can for the best price you can. To spend in excess of 30k on a reno plus the price of the car on a car that's only worth 30k or so doesn't really make sence. So if you bought it for a better number you would come out better in the long run. I love these cars but don't want to be buried in it I would rather enjoy it.

What do you think a car like that is worth. No paprrwork.engine never ran in the ten years he has owned the car.replaced quarter and the nose all in primer. A/C stuff and level ride compresser all off of the car. Don't know if the motor is bad or the cam is wiped out or if its good. This car requires a lot of faith. Looking for a good 71 monte ss project. Anybody know of one.
Thanks Sam. It is suppose to be matching number which we all know does not mean what it use to. The no build sheet is not a great selling point for one of these cars either.
