  1. Leo, great project!!! Your like a lot of us car guys we want to save them all. I cant tell if that body wise is better or worse than the 70 Shadow Grey SS from PA that I sold you a few years back. Anything ever get done with the car or just parted out at your place? Hope all is well.

  2. Were the PH1 15x7 steel wheels specific to Monte Carlo SS or could any 1970 Monte Carlo have this option added?

I know that the ZJ7 Rally wheels was an option on any 1970 Monte Carlo but were the SS cars the only ones to get 15x7 Rally wheels and non SS cars with the ZJ7 option get 15x6 Rally wheels?

  3. Thanks guys! You confirmed what I was thinking about this. 1970 SS cars with the PH1 15x7 steel wheels could have the standard hubcap or the optional PA3 body colored hubcap. or Optional ZJ7 Rally Wheels. I personally like the PA3 body colored hub caps but with that said I like them all.

  4. I know the ZJ7 rally wheels where optional on 1970 SS Montes and the PH1 15x7  steel wheels where standard. My question if your car did not have rally wheels what hubcaps where available with the 1970 SS cars?

I have seen 1970 Monte Carlos SS build sheets with just PH1 listed and others with PH1 and PA3 special wheel cover.

If the car just has PH1 listed it had steel wheels and the plain hubcaps. If it had PH1 and PA3 it had the body colored caps?

Most of the 1970 SS buildsheets that I have seen either have ZJ7 rallys listed or just PH1 but I have seen a few with PA3 listed as well.  So I am assuming some 1970 SS cars, although rare had the PA3 color keyed hubcaps?

  5. I know on 1970 chevelles the hole in the firewall can be different based on the plant the car was built. What is the big hole near the middle of the firewall for under the wiper motor? My one 70 monte carlo is a non AC car and it does not have this large hole in the firewall. Does this larger hole have to do with A/C cars only?

  6. Did SS454 cars have specific driveshafts?  My driveshaft has a big round (what looks like to be a balancer on the front yoke). Is this correct for Big Block TH400 cars only??

  7. When a 1970 SS monte was originally optioned with Rally wheels from the factory was the spare tire a Rally wheel as well or just a standard steel wheel. What are the suffix codes for 70 rally and standard steel wheels. They are both 15x7.

  8. I am just curious if anyone has any idea as to when (or is the cars actual VIN# known) of the first production SS454 Monte Carlo made in 1970. My 1970 SS Monte Carlo was built the 2nd week of Sept 1969. When did the 1970 Monte Carlo Production start and did all the plants start at the same time?
