Got my Comp XE274 and the instructions clearly state to use Rotella. My question is that the cam came with lube and I used it all on cam and lifters as instructed to, Then the engine has sat for 2 weeks and I think all the lube may have dripped off. I then added LUBERPLATE to all the lobes, and installed the manifold. I ran the valve train today and I now have to go undersize on my pushrods so engine is going to be at least another week before it fires up.
Any advice or comments?

Any one got a pic of where the release button is located inside the the glove box and where does the power lead connect to, ie fuse box or sliced into an exsisting power lead?
Thanks busmechanic

With a 145 Lbs that hamster turns into one big wheel hopping bunny rabbit.

Your right on the white knobs but it has the 1970 green lettering on gauges. hard to see in pic when a flash goes off, It is a heniz 57 for sure

Man this just gets beter and better. I looked under car tonight it is a 12 bolt. So I had a little time and pull the cover and guess what, it is a Posi! counted the gears and it came out to be a 331 ratio. Again the build sheet does not match what the car has. mystery here is? Did some one drop a posi in place of the open carrier? Or did someone steel the box control arms and sway bar?
Here is a pic of the car:
-
I got the car today and from what I expected the car is not matching up to the build sheet. The car has power windows and that is not on build sheet and the car has idiot lights and build sheet show IP gauges. All in all the car is still a good find. A non posi. I will first list it as complete car on ebay if it does not hit my reserve of 1000.00 then I will start parting it out.
Goodies I see on this car are as follows, Keep in mind this car has sat a long time so things are brittle, dirty and worn.
Bucket seats, floor console all the seat belts. All good glass, fairly decent interior black panals. It has 400 turbohydrmatic, a complete 350 small block aluniumn intake holly carb, Complete gauges/dash, The blank speedo, Non gear shift column, a remote outside mirror, Power windows. Most of the chrome, halo top trim, a 3 core radiator, bunch of trim in trunk all driver quality if cleaned and polished/painted. disk brake set up.
I will be listing the build sheet also on Ebay. Who knows maybe a SS car out there, that needs this sheet, I just wish that the production number was there. This Z20 option Build sheet came from Van Nuys.
I will post pictures on a website sometime this week. If you need a complete car a 1000.00 will take it. Let me know before it hits Ebay next week.
-
No updates as yet. I will get the car here next week and will then go over it? My hunch is the build sheet will not match the car.
My orginal post was to mention NO F-41 on a SS build sheet. Which I think has been clarified.
-
On the car I did not see the boxed arms or the 1" drag link which is what a RPO F-41 is, Build sheet does says 256 ratio.
What I am trying to say is in the tech section for is it a real ss, it mentions they had a F-41 suspension.
I am ready this build sheet from a true ss car and there is no F-41 on it.
-
Hey All I just picked up the build sheet for this 1970 Monte Carlo I bought tonight. I am Still trying to figure out if build sheet matches car. The production number is missing in top right hand corner.
Here is something I see on the build sheet that I thought all SS's have and that is the boxed lower control arms Code F-41. It is not on here. Instead it has a Code GW4 which is the 256 Ratio Axle. Everything else on build sheet points to a SS the Z20 P90 T60 LS5. May need to change some information on the tech section "Is it a real SS"?

You can use the same condensor and using the sight glass method may overcharge the system when converting over to R-134a.
Determine the correct charge for the system being upgraded to R134a use. In most cases, the R134a charge will be 10% less than the R12 charge.

So if the donar car is a 1972 MC with a 350 turbo in it, it should fit.

Kaiserbud. If I read your post right I may have something here for you. You mentioned about PAG oil. If in fact you used PAG oil that is your problem. Pag was only intended for virgin R134A systems. It can not be mixed with the the oil that is in there now. I know you said you flushed it. However getting all that old oil will be nearly impossible. Hence the milk color. You also did not mention anything about vacumm or changing the drier????? Your readings look good at high RPM but a little high at idle. Which leads me to think you have not boiled off the moisture (Puuling a deep vacumm). If I were you I would start by separting each componet and and get a gallon of flush. Do the entire system One piece at a time except the drier in which you will replace. If the POA is still good it will work with the R134a. Total BS from shop about size of Evaporator and Condensor. With that in mind I would advise that you stay far away from that shop in the future.
You may also want to replace all the seals with the green colored style seals when using R134a to keep leakage at a minimal. There will be some leakage thru the hoses but not enough to be a concern.
I did my MC conversion w/no problems only thing I did was change the drier and pull a deep vacumm for 2 hours. That is critical.
Go back witht a ester base oil and not pag.

Todd I swapped out to a 2004R and used shims behing the mounting plate on the frame to tranny cross shaft. I now have all 4 gear sections. I also went with a one wire kit that allows only lock up in 4th gear and will drop out of lock up when vacumm drops below 8 inchs (Accelarating)
-
Joker I would venture a guess in that the sensor could be the wrong type. GM Made a sensor that use to to be closed when engine was cold and then open when it got above a set temp. I remember seeing that in a impala once. Green Cold Light.

My first memories of this club were Kevin Pete and then George. I read many of his comments and replies that he offered. A few email he sent me. He will for sure be sadly missed. I pray that that God sends The Comfertor to be with his family and close friends. George you got the checker flag its now time to go home buddy.

I have seen them when they are to tight for the grease trick. That why I have two sets of pilot bearing pullers. Lets us know how you fair.

Well I am on to something. Biggest problem was that 200r4 transmission. It just would not hook up. hence the clutch material in pan every time I dropped it. stuck a diffrent 2004r in today and took it out, drove it easy for the first three miles. (It was a used transmission that look real clean inside). I stuck a spring kit in it. for better performance. I came to a stop and laid into it and she took off like the old 350 use to. Long burn out and it barked the tires in second never could get the other 2004r to do that. But when I hit third the front seal let loose (YUK what a mess). I will stick a new seal in and a line pressure gauge and go from there.
-
I hear you Jim. I think I am quoting from the A Team. I just love it when a plan comes togeather.
I pulled the transmission last night. everytime I have dropped the pan it has way to much clutch material. I have another 200r4 that I will try out. If that helps with the some on the launch, then I will go with the spacers then the 3.73 gears. and if that dont work then I will try a diffrent Carb setup. I may sell the 3.31 gears I have if the 3.73 work out.
-
I guess I will nix that Ideal.
-
The word you were looking for is atomize. I think I may try a set of one inch spacers which in theroy should give it more air.
