  1. Hey Guy's it's been 2 years since i've ask for your help finding out about my 72 custom, well looks like it's a Oshawa built W code 454 numbers matching Monte, i got the build sheet from vintage vehicle's, the build sheet say's they made 138 with the LS5, 908 with Z/03, 503 with U/14 code's, i don't know how too post pic's from this computer but some of you have seen pic's on other site's, thank you all for pointing me in the right direction on finding out about my Monte, I will be a FGMCC member for life.

  2. Ok, i got the build package back from vintage vehicle services, the 72 is a custom, there was 17,734  monte's produced for US sale from oshawa, 138 with LS5, 908 with Z03, 503 with U14, mine has all these codes, i have 2 pages with all the options the car has, it was built oct 8, 71, shipped oct 15, 71 to Universal Chevrolet, Louisville KY.

  3. A factory 454 72 Custom is VERY rare. GM does not have the info on how many Customs were made but it has been estimated by some here at 1,200 or so with maybe 10% of those being 454s. It is only an estimate but even without knowing the actual numbers it is a rare car. What colour is it?

Thank you Aaron, your knowledge of monte carlo's helped me a lot !

  4. I would like to know the reason behind it myself.  Never heard of that before.  Maybe you call DMV and have them explain it.

  5. WOW, I'm glad i joined FGMCC, thanks for all the info everybody, i was mistaken i though the W in my vin# was first, it not it's 1H57W********** but i guess as long as it has the W i'm good, can anyone tell me why my title don't say chevrolet or monte carlo on it, it says LS5 in both the make and model column's

  6. Hi everybody, thanks for all the feedback and info on my monte, the vin# does start with a W and the cowl tag does have the Z03 stamped on it, sounds like good news!, I don't know how to post pics on here.

  7. it's mohave gold w/ tan vinyl top, it was my uncles that passed away an left it to me because  the 72 was the first car i bought out of high school, he told me it was rare thats why he would'nt sell it.

  8. i just pulled a 72, 454, 400 turbo, 3.36 posi, out of a barn in kentucky, all the numbers match, the heads are stamped 1/7/71, the block is 1/8/71, the block is also stamped HI PERF, can anyone tell how rare this car is, it has been in the barn for 13yrs until i pulled it out an brought it to michigan.
