Welcome!
Great find with the 3 on the tree.....love to see some interior shots!

Good stuff there. Love that Coke Machine and have wished I could do something similar.
I've been in this club forever, but being in South Fl, I could never make any of the meets. This club has been a great asset for us First Gen guys, Thank you Kevin!
Before the club, I was getting that First Gen magazine....the Knight or something like that? Who put that together?

Nice cars! Thanks for sharing.
You like skirts I see

Super cool, never seen anything like it.
Thanks

That looks like such a great event! I really like the fact that you actually cruised together through the countryside. That part is missing from the car scene down here and that's the most fun!

Here's what I did last night....... I was bored with the old steering wheel.....
Steve
That's a nice wheel, Steve!
What did you have before, the 4 spoke?

Well, I'm at a crossroads right now on which way to go as motor in my Monte. I've been planning on a 6.0 LS motor swap and now I am thinking either increase size(stroke) of my SBC or take on a Big Block (427) for it. I have most of the stuff for a big block, I could even go out to 496 with it. I know that my car is not numbers matching and won't ever get rid of it. Just need a little more excitement. I do need to change out the gearing in it (3.42 now to 3.73) for the overdrive trans. It's been 12yrs . Decisions, Decisions.....................Thoughts?
This is a tough call! So many advantages to an LS motor as far a clean, reliable, fast transportation. But you would be adding a lot of complexity to the car, no doubt. I personally love the simplicity of a giant big block in the Monte! Heck, I was upset I had to put an electric fuel pump in mine as the 502 had no provision for a mechanical pump.
This would be just a weekend cruiser for you? Which overdrive trans will you be running and can it handle a 496?

Finally got around to installing the 4 Speed in my silver SS454.
Since this car was not a numbers matching motor or transmission and I do not have a build sheet, I decided to just make this a "fun" car and let the other ones be the "correct" show pieces.
Still got a couple more things to do for the 4 speed to be totally correct but it is drivable and a total blast to drive!!
Wow! That looks incredible!
Must be a blast to drive

I think the Corvette Turbine covers you are referring to were standard on the 1972 Monte Carlo Custom. Check out this link and see if it's what you are referring to.

So true! Mine was 14 years old when I got it in 1988 and I thought that was old......now its really old!
Kinda off topic but not really
What I find so bizarre is how Americana and Pop Culture was divided into decades with lines drawn between the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s - each decade with their own distinct characteristics. But ever since the late 90s or 2000, everything seems to be kinda the same and unchanged nothing really defining the last 2 decades. Maybe that 2018 car will be nothing special in 2065.

Ralph passed several years ago. He built several first gens in the 80s including one convertible.
The Shadow Gray car that was in MuscleCar Review in that time frame is likely mine. The photos from that shoot were used for the metal sign and the AMT model box cover as well.
I have that metal SS454 sign hanging in my garage - nice trivia there!
Thanks

Great job Aaron! Did it rain most of the show?
Glad you made the best of it and thanks for putting that together

I have that one and yes it features a blue one and a shadow gray one. I think I read somewhere that Ralph Wyatt had passed.Did anyone here know him?
Man I'm good! LOL Funny how you remember this stuff! I must have looked at that article 50 times back in the day.
And one was column and the other console.
Hoping Ralph is alive and well....

Mike, just tell your wife that you are the official FGMCC librarian responsible for publication archives. Not sure if that justifies keeping any copies prior to 1969 but hopefully she won't question that.
That's genius! Thanks

Wow, I thought I was a long-time owner. Congrats on 38 years! Part of the family for sure.
I bought mine in Aug of 1988!

Darren - I remember that issue and I think I have that one. It says Monte Carlos, and actually featured 2 of them. It's been years, even decades, but I think one was blue and one was Shadow Gray.
I can't swear its the red one he's talking about.
I haven't thrown away one car mag since I was 13....and now I'm pushing 50! My wife is gonna kill me......she asks me "what are you saving them for???" and I really have no answer!

Sounds like a plan and I'm looking forward to seeing the progress!
I need the inspiration....
Anyone have a 1972 454 Monte that is NOT a custom?

I do, non-Custom W-Code, no vinyl top.
I actually thought most 454s in 72 were Customs.....
