  1. Great to hear I appreciate your opinion. Im going that route. I’m starting with the rears then will  work my way to the fronts. Ordering the bushings today. Then the inserts to box the trailing arms along with a rear sway bar shortly. The Bilsteins came in about a week ago. Being on a fixed income now, I have to watch what I spend. Won’t start the project until I have all I need. I treat all my projects like this. I’ll research the crap out of it and get others thoughts on the subject before taking them on.

I use non ethanol in the Monte it's 4.59 I noticed when I put gas in my truck today. Regular was only 3.49 today lol

Thanks for the reminder. I did some research and was surprised how many stations near me carried it. $5.40-$5.70/gl. For regular only. It’s about .20/gl more than the ethanol stuff.

  4. Had that issue on my Camaro. Bought the tires around 2016. It took about a year for the rears to begin turning brown. I was able to  clean each individual letter with acetone, but that was crazy.  The  fronts stayed bright white. 2 different size tires. After Googling the issue, I realized others had the same problem, so I went back to the shop I purchased them from and they filled out a special form that went to Michelin who owns BFG. They honored the complaint and replaced them. Now after about 3 years, they’re doing the same. The fronts are still perfect. BFGs were on my Monte when I bought it. As Glen said, time will tell.

  5. One way to acknowledge someone’s response is to click the heart on the lower right and choose one of the comments and click on it. I apologize for suggesting something you may already know but it took me a little while to figure it out. I’m also a bit of a Neanderthal.

  6. Great to have you on board. Glad you already were able to find some needed and hard to find parts for your Monte. I’ve only been a member for 9 months and I’m on this site every day. Definitely one of my best investments.

  7. If you go to the tech archive category and click on interior tech-archive, there is a wealth of info on dash removal and repairs. A lot of good reading.

    All four corners.

That’s why I phoned in my order. I wanted to speak with someone to confirm the Bilstein part numbers. I wanted to make sure they were the B6 series and not the B4. You know what they say, “if it seems too good to be true, it probably is”. Not the case here. He told me 8 sets left under that part number and when they’re gone they’re gone. The money I saved gets me that much closer to bushings, trailing arm inserts and a rear sway bar. Then it’s off to the front end. Thanks again Blackhawk.

This is the best deal for Bilstein that I've found:

Just ordered my Bilstein shocks through Jegs at $279. I confirmed the Bilstein part numbers as being correct as Joe pointed out. Apparently there are 8 sets left at this price, which if anyone is shopping, is about $100 less than anyone else is selling them for. Thank you, Blackhawk

  10. Welcome, that’s a heck of a good starter point. Plus it’s a big block. Looks like you have the factory radio too. Interior looks good, and I’d bet that drivers door panel is somewhere with the car. If it’s not a Flint built car I’d bet there’s a build sheet somewhere also. The first and easiest place to look is under that back seat which you’ll probably be pulling anyway during your cleanup. Good luck

  11. Welcome Steve to the club. It looks like you have some real gems there. I’m totally computer illiterate but it’s easy to send photos. My wife and granddaughter will occasionally give a hand. You’ll have it down in no time. This club has some amazingly knowledgeable members, some will definitely put a smile on your face. Sorry to hear of your struggle. You seem to have a positive attitude, which definitely has to help towards treatment. Please keep us updated on your progress. Looking forward to seeing more posts from you.

  12. If the other project wasn’t a big block Monte with similar options as yours, then  I think it’s a crap shoot to get it right. There are so many variables what with spring heights and rates. The adjustable spacers may be a bandaid fix for height but what about ride and handling? I’m hoping Some of the other members chime in on this. What were the 2” drop coils originally for?
