  1. I’m sure this has been discussed before but, I am planning to convert my distributor this spring before the driving season. I want to keep my stock unit and install a Printronix or Accell trigger in it. What type do you guys use? I do not want to go with stock GM HEI because I want it to look stock. JC
  2. I’ve been waiting to write something on this post for a long time. “WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOU MONTE TODAY”? Answer: I started it up and let it run for 10 minutes. That may not seem like much to most of you but it’s the first time I’ve seen the car since September 12th 2010. Due to lack of space, I can't keep the car at my house so I store it at friend’s house 35 miles away. It’s been sitting there covered up in his garage for 437 days. Here’s the good part. I put the battery cable on, pumped the gas 3 times, hit the key, and she fired right up. No jumper cables, no starting fluid, just started up like it was on the road yesterday. I wasn’t expecting that. The original clock started working too. Good ol'e Chebby. I think I’ll be bringing her home and putting a few miles on it this summer.
  3. I have a Rochester Quadrajet with the number: 7041200 FA, 0951. I know that means it’s for a 1971, 49 state emissions, Chevy, with an automatic and it was made on March 5th 1971. Here’s the issue… The Nasty Z28 web page says it is for a LS3 396/402. What numbers decode that? It appears to me that it could be on anything from a low horsepower 350 4v to a 454. Does anyone know how to tell the application? Thank you JC
  4. Does anyone know where I can find what rearend gears were avaliable on the 1972 Monte Carlo?
  5. Hello Guys and gals, I've been looking for an overdrive transmission for my 72. Its bone stock and only puts out 175 ponies so I know I didn't need a built 700 R4. I found a freshly rebuilt 200 4R out of a 1988 Caddy for $60.00. Even though it's got the multi-fit case I had to grab it. I even got the receipt including the warranty. My next question is what has to be modified on the M/C so the overdrive works properly? Any suggestions will help. Thank you Joe
  6. Busmechanic, Thanks for the info. This is exactly what I was looking for. I have some friends that run in the demo derbys. I help them out allot. They're good with torches and big hammers but not much for real mechanical ability. If I find one of these cars they'll buy it to derby and give me the transmission. They never use the drive trains anyway. Thanks again,
  7. I'm planning to swap a TH200r4 into my 72. I was wondering how to know all the GM cars that came with this transmission so I'll know what donors to look for. I'm planning to have it completely rebuilt but I want to buy a whole car (running) and part it out. Thanks
  8. Most of what is on it is “Goodtime music by the Chevrolet Orchestra” but some of these are by the original artists. Songs Theme from “Love Story” I’ll be home Southern Rider What the world needs now Say a little prayer Everybody’s out of town We’ve only just begun Does anybody really know what time it is? Treat For the good times Ring of fire Tennessee Waltz What have they done to my song? Ob-la-di Ob-la-da! One less bell to answer Mame I want to be happy Tea for two The impossible dream This land is your land The battle hymn of the republic God bless America Then it has some waltzes and classical stuff no one has ever heard of.
  9. Well, I'll have to think that over. Thanks for the information.
  10. Does anyone know if the montes came with the stainless/chrome trim piece around the gas/brake/park pedal? I like the way it looks but I’m not sure if it’s correct for our cars.
  11. Yea, I thought it was a good deal for 20 bucks because, where else are you going to find one. The best part is it still plays and it sounds pretty good. Not my choice in music but hey... It works!
  12. Buster, I see your car has the 8 track in it. Mine does too but it's just the AM 8 track stereo. No FM I was wondering if you have one of these?
  13. Bones, the zip here is 45320. Buster, That is one amazing looking Dash!! I had a 72 with that color interior back in 75. It didn't look as good as your does now! Mine was buckets/console too. The one I have now is bench. I have everything to switch it to buckets but I have the build sheet and it says bench so I'm having trouble making the choice.
  14. Bones, Sounds great let me know. Buster, Thanks for the offer. I'll be happy to pay the shipping. I've heard about those conversions. I was thinking of going that way until Don offered to modify the one I have. The only trouble is he said he doesn't know if it will work or for how long. When you're ready let me know. Who knows... if this works maybe we could repair a whole bunch of them. Sometimes it's a burden to want it "Just like it came from the factory".
  15. I don't want to sound like a beggar but if any one is removing their old clock and is planning on trashing it I would like to get one. I have a friend (watch maker) who is developing a method to repair them but the only one we have is the one in my car and I don't want to risk screwing it up if the idea doesn't work. Let me know and thank you.
  16. I thought it was pretty good too! I was just looking for the general neighborhood so it would look stock. We’re talking dead on now! Thanks again. Joe
  17. Hey thanks guys.... Now do I really want to drill a hole in my perfect dash??? Even inside the G/B??? I Guess so...
  18. Sorry, Yes I'm aware it goes in the glove box but I was wonering on the right side, top, left side? That's what I was wanting to know. Any help would be appreciated... Thank you
