  1. I don't get upset about it. Knowing my Uncle John (original owner) the way I do, I can easily see him grumbling that the console cost too much. No a/c either. Robs HP. As for the build sheet, I'm going check the front seat backs this week. The back seat was out earlier in the year and nothing. As for the gas tank, the car was undercoated 37 years ago and the roof tar gets all over everything. I'm not looking forward toward doing that anytime soon.

  2. Entered the Monte in a local show and I continue to get the occasional 'expert' who insists that it's not a real #s matching SS because it doesn't have a console with the stratobuckets. I use to be a little miffed but since this car has been in the family since new, I know different. Anyone else have similar discussions with people? (the interior isn't really that gray)

  3. We have a wax thread going but I have a real hard time cleaning my trim rings and center caps. I have the original caps wrapped up (too easy to swipe) and I got a set of rings and caps with my new wheels. I can't get them clean!!! yeah, yeah, vinegar, etc. doesn't work and then i smell like a pickle. Any suggestions? The set is not of the highest quality.

    Thanks - Haze

  4. I really lucked out since I'm the second owner of my 70 SS and the original owner has the same last name as I do. smile It's a Flint car and I've yet to find a build sheet. I do have the ProtectoPlate that has my uncles name on it. Having the plate and some other original docs is really cool. As for buying the car in any other situation, I agree with Vaughn. I didn't get the car for an investment. I got it to cruise and attract women. At least the first part of that has come true. frown Just took some pics of the ProtectoPlate.

  5. Tim - that was great. I pretty much figured out how/why the system worked but the rear bumper air fill really confused me. Being that I just got the car from my uncle, i think I'll hold off on any rebuild. I'm waiting for classic car insurance, tags, and state inspection. Hopefully I'll have it cruising next week.

Again, thanks for the detailed explanation. I couldn't find the info anywhere.

  6. I've been trying to find out some details on my 70 SS level system and just what the heck it does. I assume that when I load up the back seat with gravity-challenged folk it'll compensate. Is that the idea? Also: tube up on the underhood canister leading to the engine vacuum system and air fill nozzle behind the rear license plate. It's all a little confusing.

    Any Help? Thanks - Mike
