  1. A bit confused.

So your Monte is a test mule and will be used only to demonstrate motor/tranny combo for a possible sale? What are the plans for the Monte afterwards? You know you cannot do all that work, tease the monte with a new heart and simply return its original motor untouched. The Monte needs commission for its help in selling combo. LOL

Yes you are correct. I had a 454 in it last summer that i took out to put in a 72 el camino im building. The plans are once I sell the el camino that will leave me enough money finish building an all forged 461 with afr head and solid roller cam.

So since the motor(327) was just sitting and the monte had no engine decided to drop it in meantime. Ill get pics for you guys

  2. There are different length tail shifts without know what the length of your tail shaft is it will be hard to give you a good guess. As for the carb bracket for the eddy try bowtieoverdrive.com http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/catalog/catalog_inc/viewitem.php?ITEMID=213. You might be able to get one from summit and jegs as well.

Thanks for the info, i will measure the the trans and dig up some pics to see if we can Id it.

  3. hey guys, hope everyone is doing well.

So the monte has a 327/700r4 in it right now but . Its a combo my dad bought to put in his ford but i've convinced him otherwise. The motor runs great but he wants me to have it in my car so when i sell the motor the buyer can start the motor and drive the car to see what he is buying

Anyhow, I was wondering if one of you guys that has a 700r4 in their car could tell me the driveshaft length from yoke to yoke..

I want to see if I can get a driveshaft that will just slide in.

    thanks guys!

also if you can point me in the direction of the correct brackets to use on edly carb that would be great too

  4. hey gang havnet been in here for a while but I found a cool way to find a bunch of monte carlo SS..

allofcraigs.com and just type in the magic words...

heres a sneak peak, copy and paste this and grab a cup of coffee http://www.allofcraigs.com/2009/07/search-all-craigslist-sites-at-once.html?cof=FORID%3A11&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&newwindow=1&q=1970+monte+carlo+ss&cx=partner-pub-9413604915893153%3Ao8xsd8d7h7s&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&as_q=.&as_qdr=a&as_epq=&as_eq=&sa.x=0&sa.y=0

  5. I was looking on glasstek's site and saw the fenders for our first gens. Anyone have them? like them? anyone have any opinions about them they would like to share. My thoughts are: alot less prep/rust removal for paint, lighter, cost is very descent compared to restoring an old set of steels.

maybe their pro front end, it would be supper light.

the reason I ask is that I may have a person interested in mine and might go to glass anyways.

    Thanks,

    Garrett.

well if ur racing the car the choice gets real easy. If the price seems right for you then even better. I have read though that a few people that have done this conversion stated the fenders needed a bit work to get to fit. I will tell you this, I have a glasstek front bumper and it fits great, alot folks here have glasstek hoods and they also fit great so that should tell you a little about there quality

  6. i dont of any that are free and good, but i'm on my 2nd year of norton..there was a lapse of 2 months where i decided i didnt need it and my computer started getting super slow and doing all kinds of worng things. but then i again I can never not click on a porn link blush

    long story short, get norton

  7. I think you would be better off shortening your axle. Its about $200 or less to get it done.

I'm doing this to my car cause I got a great deal on moser axles with c-clip eliminators but for the shorter 12 bolt that uses 29.5" axles. If you do this then you can shorten your axle between .5" to 1" but you will have to get the axles splined to go 1". Again this is a way to do it for less, but the best way is to just get the right wheels

  8. Ok all, I am swapping out my electric fuel pump for a mechanical one to appease my better half due to her not appreciating the pump sounds.

So, I'm going to keep my nice new lines and everything, and put back in a mechanical pump and run AN lines to and from it. I was originally going to get a 170 gph carter pump, but I am pretty sure I don't need that much flow and I assume that having that much potential would just be more stress on the pump if you weren't using it. I am now looking at a relatively standard 110/120 gph pump from either Carter, Holley, or Edelbrock as I think it might be more reliable since its flow is more in line with what I probably need.

What are you guys running (or what have you run) and what has worked for you. Also, how fast were you able to go with that particular pump?

Have any of you had any bad pumps? I know Greg just had an incident with a Holley high flow pump so have any of the rest of you had issues?

AND, I will be putting my Mallory comp 140 electric pump and matching return style regulator for sale for $150 to anybody here, and if nobody is interested in that it will go on Ebay.

    Thanks for any input!

Let me know what pump you get and how it works for you. I myself will be in the market for one to replace my stock with. Looking to see if I could get a mechanical that will support the motor and another 5psi for the nitrous

  9. I have a 70 bumper from glass tek and the holes for the turn signals still need to be cut out, which i will do, but if you didnt want to a little bondo would make it level and it would look correct for your 72,,,but if your getting a discount on the one from andreas, get it and just get a 70 grille

  10. that's how I had mine mounted too before the roll cage

do you have pictures of your roll cage? I been thinking of putting one right now before I get the interior back in...Looking at 6 or 8 point.

  11. Comp Cam --280/280--230/230@.050--520/520--110 lobe separation

Mark V heads ported & polished

    Mark V Block .030 over

CSI performance HEI & accell plug wires

Sounds like it will be healty, However I so so on the comp cam, Personally I would have gone with the Lunati Voodoo series..Tons of good info on those cams over on chevelle site

    Sound like a good combo?

  12. Looks good...But I would advise to ditch the chrome t-stat...The hose wont fit right on it and they are prone to rust and leak...Get oem GM or similar, trust me..I think alot of the guys here have learned the same thing...

By the way, what cam are you running? I think the 770 might be overkill If you dont have a cam that requires that size..
