  1. I just purchased another M-22 Muncie for $200. I purchased it just for the main casing because mine has a hairline crack in it with one of the ears missing. The transmission that I just purchased looks good other than a couple of gears being stripped out. The casting # on it is 3885010. The patent # is 3088336. It has P7H09 on it also and it has the large shaft.

  2. Hey guys, do I use the same brake booster and master cylinder with my big block that I used with my small block? My problem is, I am using the tall style valve covers on my big block and there is no clearance between the valve covers and the brake booster. If I ever decide to change valve covers, I will probably have to remove the brake booster. Do you big block guys use a smaller brake booster?

  3. Hey guys, On the small block that was in there one heater hose went to the intake and the other heater hose went to the water pump. On the big block both hoses are going to the water pump. shouldn't one hose go to the water pump and one hose go to the intake. If so, what do I do with the other outlet on the water pump? The small block water pump only had one outlet but the big block water pump has two. Can someone post some pics showing me how to rout these hoses. Thanks

  4. Hey guys, now that I got my big block in I don't have any heat on the inside of my car. I am running a new aluminum radiator with a Cyclone electric fan. The radiator / fan combo keeps the engine really cool. The temp doesn't go above 160 degrees. I am using a 160 degree thermostat. Could the reason I don't have any heat on the inside be because the engine is running so cool at only 160 degrees?

  5. Hey guys, I finally got my 468 big block installed after about four years. I think it was worth the wait. It is a 10.5:1 compression 60 over 454 with oval port heads with big valves, a Lunati 60204 Voodoo cam, RPM Air-Gap intake, Noisy gear drive, 3 inch exhaust, Super T-10 4 speed with a Ram Competition clutch and pressure plate, 3:55 rear end. On the Dyno it put out 514 horsepower and 593 lbs of torque.

  6. Hey guys,I have another Problem with my engine swap, The old high torque starter that was on my small block is too big. My mechanic put a regular stater on but it lived a short life (like one day). I went to NAPA Auto Parts and told the salesman at the counter that a needed a high torque mini starter for a 72 Monte Carlo with a 454 big block. He sold me a high torque mini starter (straight bolt pattern) but it does not fit. Should I have specified that my car is a four speed and that it has headers? Exactly what type of mini starter should I ask for?

  7. Hello FGMCC, After a couple of years I finally finished my 60 over 454. The guys at the machine shop hooked it up to the dyno, fired it up and discovered that the block had a crack in it near the bottom just below where the cam goes. Now I am on the hunt for a 454 block so that we can get back on course. I have checked with a few local drag racers and the ones who have 454 blocks are not willing to part with them. I have checked a few salvage yards but have not had any luck yet.May have to go to the Jegs or Summit book. Any suggestions guys?

  8. Thanks guys, I'm running a flat tappet cam. I have a Pete Jackson noisy gear drive in my small block, and I love the way it intimidates people when I pull up at cruise ins so I decided to run one in my big block. I cant wait to hear how it is going to sound. I went by the machine shop a few days ago so that we could start it up in the Dyno room, but they had a small block stroker motor that they were trying to finish. I will continue to keep you guys posted. Also, will my Super T10 tranny and 3:55 10 bolt be enough? If not what would be a good replacement for the rear end and tranny?
  9. Hey guys, been a while since I posted (like two years or something), but I am finally making some progress with my big block. I should have it in the car and running in a few weeks. We have it sitting in the Dyno room ready for start up. The combo so far consist of a 60 over 454 block, big dome Mahle pistons,Lunati Voodoo camshaft Duration 276/284, Lift .554/.572, noisy gear drive, roller rockers, oval port heads with 2.25-1.88 valves, and an RPM Air-Gap intake. I still have to get a water pump, distributor, Headers, and Carb, It will be on the dyno, I am hoping for some decent numbers. I am posting some pictures, Let me know what you think. Any last minute advise you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.IMG00277.jpgProjectBigBlockBuild1_zps7c485f47.jpgProjectBigBlockBuild2_zpse08d07be.jpgProjectBigBlockBuild3_zps0a465dcf.jpgIMAG0901_zps414bc43c.jpg

  10. Thanks a lot guys. you guys are awesome. I called the shop yesterday and the valves had already been installed. He installed the big 2.25 intake valves, not sure about the exhaust, i think 1.88. I wanted to have the heads ported but i guess if he has already installed the valves its too late. He says when we finish the build we should be at 10.5 to 1 compression. Does this sound like a good start to get me to my 425 - 450 HP goal? 013.jpg

  11. Hey guys, been a while since I posted. I have started back working on my 454. Its comming together slowly but surely. It is a 1972 454 out of a 1972 Chevy Caprice rated from the factory at 270 HP. My goal is a 425 - 450 HP big block. As for as parts go, I have purchased a Lunati Voodoo cam part# 60204 with 554 lift and 276 duration, Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap intake, and MAHLE forged dome pistons. So for the block has been bored 60 over, the crank has been turned, and the oval port heads are being cut out for bigger valves. I still need to get rocker arms, valve springs, fuel pump, water pump, headers, carb and valves. I need a little more advice guys, should I use 1.6 roller rockers or 1.7 roller rockers? Should I cut the heads for 2.19 / 1.88 or 2.25 1.88 valves, and last but not least, should I port & polish the heads or will the bigger valves help get me to my 425-450 HP goal without porting & polishing. Thanks guys and I will keep you posted. 100_0259.jpg

  12. On my 1972 454 engine that I am building, I am using the stock oval port heads. We are putting bigger valves in them. My question is, should I have them ported and polished, or should I just wait later and get a set of after market heads? We are going with dome forged pistons to get my compression to 10.5.1. The guy at the shop said that if I decide to get after market heads later, I would have to change my pistons because it would make my compression too high. Would I really have to change pistons if I decide to upgrade my heads later? 100_0259.jpg

  13. Does anyone have a video sound clip of a car using the Lunati Voodoo 60205 series camshaft. You tube has a lot of video clips of cars using the Lunati 60203, and 60204 series Voodoo camshafts, but no vids with the 60205. The vids with the 60204 cam sounds awesome. Just wondering what the 60205 sounds like.100_0445.jpg

  14. I recently noticed a gear oil leak comming from my tranny. I had it checked out today and found out that my Super T10 tranny has a hair line crack in it. When I purchased it back in 1995, one of the four ears that connects it to the bellhousing was broken off. Now with only three ears and a hair line crack, I guess it is time to swap out the tranny. What are my chances for finding an M22 in good shape, and what should I pay? 019.jpg

  15. Finally got an electric fan hooked up. My mechanic had it lying around in the back yard. It is not like the one everyone recomended, but I cant complain because it was free. My temp runs around 185 to 190 degrees. Is that normal? or should it run a little cooler? I will post some pics soon. I'm still going to take you guys advice, but for now I hooked this one up to see how it was gonna do. 100_0262.jpg
