  1. At 2009 FGMC Eastern Meet at ZMax in Concord NC
  2. On my 1972 454 engine that I am building, I am using the stock oval port heads. We are putting bigger valves in them. My question is, should I have them ported and polished, or should I just wait later and get a set of after market heads? We are going with dome forged pistons to get my compression to 10.5.1. The guy at the shop said that if I decide to get after market heads later, I would have to change my pistons because it would make my compression too high. Would I really have to change pistons if I decide to upgrade my heads later?
  3. Does anyone have a video sound clip of a car using the Lunati Voodoo 60205 series camshaft. You tube has a lot of video clips of cars using the Lunati 60203, and 60204 series Voodoo camshafts, but no vids with the 60205. The vids with the 60204 cam sounds awesome. Just wondering what the 60205 sounds like.
  4. I recently noticed a gear oil leak comming from my tranny. I had it checked out today and found out that my Super T10 tranny has a hair line crack in it. When I purchased it back in 1995, one of the four ears that connects it to the bellhousing was broken off. Now with only three ears and a hair line crack, I guess it is time to swap out the tranny. What are my chances for finding an M22 in good shape, and what should I pay?
  5. That is one beefy looking Monte Carlo. and I love that color.
  6. Finally got an electric fan hooked up. My mechanic had it lying around in the back yard. It is not like the one everyone recomended, but I cant complain because it was free. My temp runs around 185 to 190 degrees. Is that normal? or should it run a little cooler? I will post some pics soon. I'm still going to take you guys advice, but for now I hooked this one up to see how it was gonna do.
  7. Welcome Tom. Great looking Monte.
  8. Kool, I bet that was alot of fun. I've only made one pass in my 72, but I'm suposed to enter a car show in Rockingham NC at the drag strip in late September. I might make a couple of passes after the car show is over. It will be only my second pass in my car ever. I will try to get it recorded and post a video for you guys, Just dont laugh too hard at my slow times. LOL
  9. I was just curious as to what was the best between the three. As for as the 5 speed goes, thats just wishful thinking. I work for the department of corrections, I just can aford to dream about this stuff.LOL. Any extra money that I save will go toward building the big block that I have my eye on, but thanks for the info.
  10. I purchased my tranny about 15 years ago. I was told that it was an M22 Rock Crusher out of an SS Chevelle. I did not find out that it was not until about two years ago when I replaced my clutch. When we droped the tranny my mechanic looked at it and said "thats not an M22, thats a Super T10". It has been in my monte since 1996.It has a Center Force Duel Friction Clutch Kit, and a Hurst comp shifter with a pistol grip that I rigged up. If I ever replace it it will be with 5 speed.
  11. Which tranny is better M21, M22, or super T10.
  12. I am thinking of making the change from my flex fan to electric fan, or fans. Does this change make a big difference as for as horse power/fuel economy?http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr165/gearjamma
  13. Hold on, I left out the 3/4 shots of my own car.The last pic should be one from "The Rock" drag strip last year during the Gear Jammers / Nostalgea drags.
  14. I think I have it know. Check these out. I wish that I would have taken more, but I had the camcorder in one hand and the camera in the other.Tell me what do you think.IMG]http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr165/gearjamma/100_0826.jpg[/img]IMG]http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr165/gearjamma/100_0833.jpg[/img]
  15. Lets try again. IMG]http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr165/gearjamma/100_0788.jpg[/img]IMG]http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr165/gearjamma/100_0831.jpg[/img]IMG]http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr165/gearjamma/100_0829.jpg[/img]IMG]http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr165/gearjamma/100_0834.jpg[/img]
  16. These are some pics from the 2009 eastern meet, and a few other cars.100_0826.jpg 100_0788.jpg 020.jpg 019.jpg 100_0830.jpg 100_0831.jpg 100_0832.jpg 100_0835.jpg 100_0836.jpg 100_0834.jpg 100_0829.jpg 100_0833.jpg 100_0819.jpg 100_0823.jpg
  17. I have some realy cool pics from the 2009 eastern meet at Z-Max in Concord NC. the only problem is, I have no idea how to post them. Could one of you walk me through this so that I can share these pics with you. I uploaded the pics from my camera to the computer, but I have no idea how to tranfer the pics from my folder on the computer to this website. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  18. I also have a chance to get a 454. My brother-n-law had it in his Chevelle years ago. Its been sitting and needs rebuilding, but I am trying to buy it from him and build it for my 72 Monte. I wish I would have started out with a big block, because if I would have made the same modifications to a big block that I have made with my small block, I would have a real monster by now.
  19. Slowww, but I will post some ETs once I move up to "not so slow" lol
  20. The "Rock" dragway is in my hometown. I usually hit the local cruise ins. (Laurenburg NC at Smithfields restarant on tuesday evenings, and Hamlet NC on main street on the first Friday of the month). The "Rock" host several events through out the year, and they do test & tune on Fridays. When I made my pass I thought that they were going to time us in the 1/4 so I ran the whole 1/4. The high 14s was just a guesstimate, they timed us in the 8th. I plan on going back to the "Rock" soon during test & tune. Once I learn a little more about what I am doing, I will post some pics or maybe a vid. Right now the only vid I have posted is a walkaround with my car idling. Go to YouTube and put in "My Killer 72 Monte Carlo".
  21. I finally made my first pass saturday 09/20/2008 at "The Rock" Rockingham Dragway during the Gear Jammers & Nostalgia Drags. I entered my 72 in the car show and some guys talked me in to making a pass. Drag racing can really be addictive because the minute it was over I was ready to make another pass. I did not run it all out and was only around the high 14s because I did not know what I was doing but I can't wait until next Friday for test & tune. Once I learn what I am doing, What should my ET be? My combo consist of: 350 cubic in., 480/280 Comp. Cam, ported & polished 041 heads w/ 202/160 valves, 1.5 roller rockers, Holley 650 double pumper, MSD 6AL, Dart intake, Blackjack headers, 2 1/2 exhaust with X pipe & single chamber Flowmasters,Super T10 four speed w/ Centerforce Dual Friction cluch kit, 3:55 Richmond geared 10 bolt (single traction) rear end. How can I get my Monte into the 12s or should it be a 12 second car already?
