  1. Capri, The first problem is the NetGear router, in a word they stink...but we'll work around that....LOL

Seriously it's Hard to say for sure given the posted information...so try this:

Does the computer show "connected" In Windows once it is booted?

Is it connected via a cable or wireless card?

Try this: From the computer that has internet access:

    Click Start > Run

    Type "CMD" Minus the quotes.

Type 'IPCONFIG /ALL" Minus the quotes

Write down the IP, Default gateway and subnet mask and DNS Server IP Addy.

From the computer not able to connect, repeat this and compare the two, you should see basically the same IP Configuration on the machine with no internet access, with the exception of the IP address, the Default Gateway and Subnet mask will generally be the same.

It should also have a DNS IP address listed, with out that the computer will not be able to resolve IP addresses.

If is has an IP address, DNS address etc...try to ping the IP of the Default gateway:

    Start> Run Type CMD

Type Ping x.x.x.x (x Indicates the IP address of the Default Gateway.

Then do the same for the DNS entries.

Post your results, and we can troubleshoot further from there.

  2.

Okay, here are some updated pictures of the 496 as of 28 Dec. Not a lot new to see, but the new Aeromtoive fuel log is mounted, and the tank, pump, and lines are done out back, and we should be able to finish the plumbing of it up front before I get on the plane.

With the wiring harness still not completed, it's doubtful I will get to the point we can actually fire the 496 before I leave which is a bummer of sorts, I was really hoping to hear this thing run.

I actually got to see the car in person, grin and it's coming along, very slowly but it is coming, the dash is in, I'll put those pictures up soon, and I am going up today to try to test fit the new console and do some work on the front clip, core support etc.

  3. Okay I guess I misunderstood you posts. Moving on ....

So in effect what your are saying is you're wondering /concerned about what is causing the RPM to drop? Correct?

If that is the case.. this RPM drop happening at speed you mentioned; is the car's speed constant and you're ONLY noticing a variance in what your tach reads? Or are you getting a lunging or slowing while trying to maintain a steady cruising speed?

As far as RPM's dropping at idle, from your video, I honestly don't hear anything wrong, it just sounds like a happy SBC with a Mild cam to me...other wise known as "loping".

  4. It could be heat range of the plug, but judging from those pics I'm wondering why on only that cylinder? The rest seem to be doing fine.

    Since you say it cleared up after swapping those plugs out then came back;

How many miles are on this engine?

Like Jake mentioned you could have oil getting into the cylinder from a bad valve seal and that's causing this, on that particular hole, it could be a bad oil control ring on the piston etc.

IMHO Something ain't right there... it seems like a lot of oil fouling on that single plug for only 600 miles of use.

  5. Q. Did the miss go away when you changed that plug and now it's back? Or did it not go away at all and you're trying to come up with another solution to the same problem?

Reason I am asking is if you are fouling a plug heavily enough to induce a miss after just 600 miles, that "oil burning" is going to need attention...and soon.

  6. Terry,

You might also want to ensure the Windows Audio services is not shut down.

    To check this:

Click Start > Run and type services.msc

A window will open, in the services pane, scroll down until you see "Windows Audio" if it is stopped click on "start the service". If it fails to start you may have some sort of .dll or other registry corruption causing the issue.

  7. Not to steal any of Crazy Davey's thunder, but he and I were chatting on Yahoo! IM, he told me Red ripped off 2 Mid 11 second passes in He 72 Monte during the Friday test and tune....Looks like that new cam's really paying off!

  8. That was the one draw back to the Mountain Mods / Chevette radiator, it took up a lot of space, and the triple 88mm fans when pushed out to the max got a little noisey.

Under normal conditions though I would set my radiator fans at just 1000 rpm or so and the only thing you'd really here was a slight woosh of the fluids circulating and very muted hum from the pump.

At the height of my W/C days when I built that rig It was based mostly off of the Mountain Mods site, It had both the System CPU and ran twin SLI 512MB Nvida based Graphics cards water cooled.

I remember just after completing the build, I fired everything up to install the OS, and I noticed a drip drip of coolant from the Lower GPU Block, this had happened before with the same block so.....frustrated, I shut down, jumped into my car, went to a hardware store got pipe sealant and adjustable metal hose clamps. The kit I bought had Nylon type clamps and I suspected they just weren't up to snuff for the pressures I was running from the pump.

Got home drained the system, tore all the hoses out, coated the hose barbs on the blocks with the PVC sealant and put the hoses back on with the metal clamps, tightened them up refilled the system and VIOLA! no more leaky!

One draw back...For days after; my room in my flat REEKED of Pipe sealant; my roommate swore I was in there 'huffing' ...but it worked.

I never had another leak...and even that it was built back 5 years or so now that rig probably would STILL give some newer CPU set ups a run for their money, it was insane what it could pull on benchmarks when it was running all out.

LOL Moral of the story...PC's are like cars...nothing ever succeeds like ...overkill!!
