  1. Looks like nice parts Jared, can't wait to see the install pics smile

    ditto

Gee... do ya think I could sneak that upgrade to the mods I've already done past da wife?

    Hmmmm...I'm thinking not...LOL.

  2. Thanks Royce, the credit is all due to Eulan, the guy I found in KY who is doing the work, I'm just the idjut throwing money at it. nutz

Yes those are then GMPP valve covers..If memory serves, (it been almost 18 months now since I bought them), I got them at Summit.

  3. Looks wicked with no fenders... cool

I see the headers are black, at what point did you change the color and why?...if you mentioned it before I must of missed it or just forgot.

Bill, Those silver ones were Dougs Ceramic, that came out of a 67 Chevelle, unfortunately ...they were a no-go, as the number 2 tube on the P-side which on that particular style header runs almost next to the first tube rather than behind it, & it wouldn't clear the lower control arm.

So... I had to change them and went with the Hooker Super Comp with 2 inch primaries....

  4. pretty nice looking Greg...going to be a shame to cover all that up with fenders and stuff.... wink

I know...Hey maybe were on to something here...I'll chop the top off of here, put in a hinged windshield and make the worlds only 72 Chebby T-bucket !! shifter

  5. A few more pictures of some of the progress ...

The interior is out now, and they are working on the wiring harness. But there's really not much to see there, it's an empty car but the old dash is still there so I'm not going to bore you with pictures of my old dirty carpet...LOL.

The steering shaft is in now, as well as the power-steering lines, however, we had to order a new universal joint from Uni-Steer, looks like the last shop hammered on the old one? It was beat up pretty bad so we had to get a new one.

You can see where it looks like they smacked it with a hammer or something below.

The new joint showed up Friday but it isn't in yet, he's doing that, and plumbing the fuel lines and electric pump this weekend he said.

And those Valve covers I was so worried about ....fit! yay

There is 1 1/2 Inch clearance between the corner of the cover and the master cylinder.

  6. I'm seriously contemplating throwing some sidepipes on mine. I just think they're cool.

Check your state laws, I remember reading somewhere that they were banned in a lot of places...

  7. LOL...Just an observation....But only a dude born with drag racing in his blood can write a post after ripping off multiple 12 second passes and one sub 12 second pass and call it "Not good". shifter

Hang in there you'll work the bugs out...!!

  8. Whew, for a second I was getting worried. I picked the Aeromotive set up just because of the reviews I read that said it was quite..

I wouldn't want the fuel pump noise to compete with the Pete Jackson Gear drive or Flow Masters... nutzshocked

  9. Thank Ian & everyone, it looks like at least part of the system will have to be replaced, the intermediate pipes which were bent for the shorties style Hedmans ain't going to work with the New Hookers. Go figure!

  10. laugh

Hooo-boy! Now that's some change we can believe in~! shocked

Where do I send my election fund contribution I wonder?

  11. I would not recommend stoping them before the rear axle. I ran like that last year and it was very noisy and the reverb in the cab was horrible.

My suggestion would be to find a shop that can do full mandrel bends on 3" pipe and install a full 3" system with Dynomax mufflers. I did this earlier this year and it turned out great. Not cheap (1000$) but everything fits perfect, it has a crossover, sounds good, and it performs. I track tested it and it makes no difference in MPH/ET with full exhaust vs open headers. I do have cutouts immediately after the headers.

I tried the "custom made kit" and they just don't fit right. More work to get it to actually fit than it is worth.

I've see the article that Dave is talking about above. It was a GTO or something that track tested a bunch of different mufflers, tailpipe sizes and pipe sizes. I'm just telling you what I found in my case.

Thanks for the advice, I'll check into it.

  12. Thanks Allan, Bills car and how those pipes run is exactly the reason I started mulling over this situation, I'm going to call TT and see what they can do for me.

  13. just beautiful.

I don't recall, what are your power expectations?

Missed this ..sorry Jake. Ball park figure I'm guesstimating 500 - 520 at the flywheel.

Washing all my numbers through the Comp Cams simulator software came out to 540 roughly, but a lot of us have tinkered with that and think perhaps Comp is a little generous with the numbers it spits out.

Speaking of which, I've been meaning to ask this, does anyone have a Comp Cams installed AND a dyno run?

It'd be interesting to see if the numbers the simulator is spitting out come close to what a real world motor has put out for numbers...

  14. Looks great Greg. Sorry I missed your questions above. The new job doesn't let me spend as much time here.

    That March pump is PURDY.

Hey those headers, are they the 2" primary, 3 1/2" collectors?

Allan, yes 2" primaries, and 3.5" at the collectors; they required modification to the flange for the power steering pump and one tube to fit.

    Thanks for to comments everyone!

  15. I'm just a picture posting fool today !! grin

Okay a little forward progress here, not much to report, things are moving a little slower right now but ...they are moving. The seats are now out and work is movig towards the electrical wiring and dash.

Here's Pictures of new Power Steering pump, and 140 Amp Alternator, and you can see just the corner of the new Hooker Headers in the one picture installed:

Carb and plumbing will be going in soon.

Sorry, the only thing I like from China are its people. Some of the nicest people in the world considering how oppressive their government is. Perhaps this might be something we see in the future within our own borders, who knows. All I do know is that there is NOTHING that can be made better in China that can be made here. Even American Chinese food is better. laugh

Tainted dog food, lead laced toys for kids, really ...what's not to like ? rofl

  17. Loud and obnoxious is great for the track and a little bit on the street, but on a four hour cruise it gets really old for me. I really like the electric cutouts

I think I am just going to end up with a torque -tech set up, it seems that they tuck up under the fenders a little cleaner than my set up does?

    Any thoughts guys?
