  1. Thanks guys, I think I am going to take a chance and fish the exhaust, prior to break in. I guess the worst that can happen is i have to sent them back out this winter to get re-coated.

Mike did you break in Jack's car with them on, and did you see any detrimental affects?

  2. You guys that have Doug's headers... Can you break in your motor with them installed or are they like the Hookers and tell you can't because you will burn the ceramic coating. I know Doug's are thicker.

I don't know how I would break in my motor without doing two complete exhaust jobs. I have a old set of BBC header but they are for racing and it would be a chore to rig them up.

    Any suggestions???

  3. It is only wrong if you do it to raise the value to sell. It is completely wrong in my opinion. Not the cloning the deception. If you want to clone a car fine, besides it is the look we want not some status, but when you start cutting VIN tags off an original car that is completly scrap and putting it on a nice car that maybe was a plain jane i think it is wrong. Just remember it is all about deception, and usally to make alot more money on a sale. I feel it is perfectly fine if you are open about t being a clone. I have had this argument with a few of the guys around here that do this and wouldn't you know it they never want to tell the buyer that it is a clone even though I know for a fact it is. Dead Wrong.

  4. Hey boys and girls. Summit has in their bargian bins TCI 700R4/2004R automatic lockup kits for $49.98. This is a great deal I picked one up and it looks good. It changes the wireing so it will only lockup in fourth and unlocks when your engine is under load. You can also add the brake switch to this setu if you want immediate unlock on braking, and an over-ride swtch so you can keep it on or off in other gears.

Down side is that it is only in the store (Ohio) and is limit one per person.

Just thought you guys should know.

  5. Does anyone know if a speedo modual from a 400 or 350 will work in a 700? I have an electronic one in my 700 now and wanted to know bbefore I go to a tranny shop. I have plenty of 350s and 400s around that would gladly donate to me.

    Thank you

    Christian

  6. ARcher.. _ALL_ qjets are at least 750cfm

the hard to find ones are the 800's that came on some 454 and 455's :>

and you are totally right.. Qjet's own... fi you can get the fraggin things tuned right.

Sorry I miss spoke. You are correct. It took me forever to find my 800 QJ for my 455 RA-III. Thats what I get for speaking when i am drunk. LOL

Sorry Bones I did not understand your app.

I still believ the Q-jet would have a hard time hitting its limits on all but the radical to extreme engine builds. But you need to find an Old school guy that nows what they are doing with them.

  7. I truly believe it is hard to beat a properly tuned Q-Jet on a Chevy/Pontiac. I know alot of people would disagree, but most never have been bleesed with a Q-Jet guru nearby. I stand by them untill you need 750 or better. The 750 Q-jets are very hard to find.

    My two cents

  8. its been almost two months since ive looked at by archer but i think the front of my console is on the carpet.

Not the console, the shifter. I am pretty sure the console would go on the carpet.

Thanks for your help guys. I think I have come to a conclusion with all your help.

  9. Thanks guys.

I know i needed the back bracket but my concern was how high the front was when everything was set in place on the shifter. It make sense only if part of the shifter in on the bare metal and the front is on the carpet. I think that is the conclusion. Damn i wish that little piece of card board was not covering the shifter screw holes I would have liked to get a visual reference. Oh well thank you for the pic.

  10. Just FYI

This is what I am seeing. It makes sense only if the back of the Shifter sits in the sheet metal, and the front goes over the carpet. I am just seeking confirmation to make sure i have the sheet metal correct. My assembly manual shows nothing on the install of the carpet, and the shifter details are cutaway details that shown you the shifter sitting on the tranny.

Thanks for your help guys, and gals

  11. If you have a 700R4 and get the Lens etc. it runs around $80.00 but it comes with the required ratchet arrangement and all necessary hardware to connect it to the Xsmn. The only problem I had was with the new pattern, I couldn't properly adjust the netrual safety switch. It will now start with the shifter in OD and the backup light will light both in reverse and neutrial.

It should work because i believe the extra position was added between 1-2, and that the original drive position (TH400) is the OD (TH700R4) Therefore the NS position and Reverse should not have moved. Anyway I am sure a late 80s NS swutch would probably fit. If they were differnt at all.

  12. What is the arrangment for the shifter? My assembly manual doesn't show the detail. Does the shifter bolt directly to the bare floor pan with the three primary screws, or does it go over the carpet? Does the back of the shifter bolt to the bare floor and the front go over the carpet. Mine is not fitting very well and if I mock in the console it is about a 1.5" above the floor. I know the back of the console should be about an 1" above the tunnel, but doesnt the front screw directly to the tunnel? It just doesn't seem correct. I am sure a picture is worth a thousand words in this case.

    Thank you

  13. Thanks All.

I did try and do some research but came up with too many conflicting answers. One made it look like a M22 and one was a M21. They trow the term rock crusher around like it applies to any Muncie. So I am trying to find some one has looked through all the BS and could short cut it for me.

The additional number read 12 (2) directly under the GM, and the number I think the numbers Chris was refering to are "P9B15B"

Thanks again for your help guys.
