  1. Why would both A01 and A02 be listed? A01 is "All tinted glass" while A02 is "Tinted windshield". You coded one or the other but not both. Beautiful car regardless.

  2. Great find. Good luck with it. Should be stunning when completed. I noticed in the photo with Ripley that there are seat belt holders at the base of the rear seat. Never seen another with those before. I have an NOS set in my basement I ended up with as part of some parts deal I made and never could find out why 2 of them were attached together. Now I know.

  3. Try these guys. The do, or at least used to, sell remanufactured AC transducers (that's what you're referring to) and I believe I used them at one point to repair the one on my former 71 Ascot blue Monte.

  4. The stock Monte automatic crossmember will work. You should change the rubber isolators since they're probably toast if you haven't already. Or you can just get a 68-72 Chevelle crossmember that bolts directly to the frame. It'll fit. I used the stock Monte crossmember with no problem on my conversion. Just needed to replace the dampening front yoke with a non-dampening type to fit my M20 correctly.

  5. I gave up on Softseal after installing them on my 67 Firebird and my 71 Monte. Doors were hard to close, power windows that wouldn't seal properly, slamming trunk. Changed to Metro and all was good again.

  6. Spicer and others make u-joints that specifically allow for these situations. Check their catalogs and you should be able to determine which will work for your application. I've used them before when changing to larger rear axles in pickup's.

  7. Ed,

I pulled my build sheet and preceding CONV is Z14 A/C Body. The buildsheet for my car is on my website. Click on "Red Monte" and the link to it is near the top.

  8. Check that the wire doesn't have an corrosion on it. If you leave you welder in the garage year round (and you don't have a heated garage) the temperature swings and moisture cause some corrosion that definitely will produce the problems you're experiencing. Had the exact same thing happen to me until I figured out what was wrong. I take the wire spool off and leave it in a Ziploc bag when not in use.

  9. Not sure what you mean by "modifications" But: You will need to drill both the doors and cowl for the wiring. This will require removal of the doors. You may also need to drill the doors in order to mount the motor/regulator. It's been awhile since I did it so I can't remember. Either way it wasn't a big deal when I did the conversion.

  10. Since you're in CT did you ever think of having Nu-Chrome in Fall River MA do it? I sent 8 bumpers to them and they did a great job. It was awhile ago but I do remember the pricing was better than some of the shops I would have had to ship it to. After 8 years on my 67 Firebird 400 and the same on a 62 ChevyII and 69 428RA Cougar they still look like the day we picked them up.

  11. Yes, there are plastic clips under the trim. Also, the 2 rear corner pieces (near the trunk lid) are held on by nuts from underneath. Beware of what you may find under the bubbling vinyl. I was planning to do exactly what you are but discovered a severly damaged portion of the quarter piller and on the trunk filler due to a previous owner (pre-1980) botched repair.
